This Christmas, KP Financial Wellbeing is proud to be supporting Edison Media Ltd “Be Someone’s Santa” appeal, helping to make sure children across Bolton, Bury and Salford have a present to open on Christmas morning.

For many of us, Christmas means presents under the tree, food on the table and time spent with the people we love. But sadly, for some families in our local communities, Christmas can look very different.

And this is where we can all make a difference. ❤️

We’re asking our clients, friends, families, local businesses and everyone in our community to help in whatever way they can.

Women’s financial wellbeing: couples may be underestimating the pension gap

A new Financial Times analysis published this weekend has put renewed focus on something highly relevant to female financial wellbeing: many couples do not know how much pension wealth their partner actually has. Women remain particularly exposed because career breaks, caring responsibilities and lower lifetime earnings can significantly reduce retirement provision.

The underlying official figures remain striking. DWP data show median private pension wealth for 55–59-year-old men at £156,000 versus £81,000 for women
Thats a 48% gender pensions gap. DWP research also confirms that long spells outside employment and periods of part-time work, patterns disproportionately experienced by women are associated with much weaker private pension outcomes.

For my client conversations, this argues strongly against treating a couple’s retirement planning simply as one combined household figure.
“If each of you had to rely on your own pension assets, what income would each of you have?”

That will naturally open conversations about pension contributions, beneficiary nominations, divorce, bereavement, career breaks and financial independence.

This week I was absolutely thrilled to receive my SheInspires- Celebrating Women Impact Leaders 2026 Founding Cohort plaque, and seeing my name on it made this recognition feel even more special.

I feel incredibly honoured to be a Founding Member of the Shelist Impact Leaders 2026 Cohort, standing alongside such an inspiring group of women who are leading with purpose, creating positive change and making a real difference in their communities and professions.

For me, financial wellbeing has always been about so much more than money. It’s about giving people confidence, reducing stress, creating opportunities and helping them build brighter futures. To be recognised for that work is both humbling and incredibly motivating.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged and believed in me throughout my journey. This recognition is one I’ll treasure, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together as this incredible founding cohort begins its journey.

Here’s to collaboration, impact and continuing to make a difference.

New 22% charge on cash in investment ISAs

A flat rate 22% charge will apply on the interest on cash held in investment ISAs.

Money market funds held in an ISA won’t be classified as cash, and won’t be liable to the 22% charge, provided they don’t make up 100% of the ISA.

A simpler first-time buyer ISA will be launched to replace the lifetime ISA. It will pay a government bonus, but there will be no exit penalties.

The government has announced a 22% charge on the interest on cash savings held within non-cash ISAs, including stocks and shares ISAs and innovative finance ISAs, from April 2027.

ISA providers and investors have been calling for government to give clarity on the treatment of cash holdings in non-cash ISAs. It follows the announcement in the Budget in November last year of a reduction in the annual tax-free cash ISA allowance for the under-65s from next April.
