On Tuesday, our wonderful Christine visited 10 Downing Street , celebrating all things fostering alongside Josh MacAlister, foster carers and care-experienced people from across the country. She was also joined by Blackburn with Darwen Councillor Julie Gunn.

The event marked the launch of a new national fostering recruitment campaign, with an ambition to create 10,000 more foster places and improve support for foster carers.

Christine is our Training Lead at Foster with us and is passionate about all things fostering. She also loves a good political discussion, so this was a great opportunity for her to be part of the conversation.

Today marks the beginning of Children of Foster Carers week🌟

When families choose fostering, it isn’t just foster carers making a difference. Their own children often play a huge role too.

By welcoming children into their home, sharing their space, showing kindness and helping create a sense of belonging, children of foster carers become an incredibly important part of the fostering journey.

Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing stories that recognise and celebrate these amazing young people.

In fostering, a child’s identity, culture and background are an important part of who they are. Having foster carers from a wide range of backgrounds can help children feel understood, supported and connected to the people and communities around them.

Every child deserves to feel proud of who they are and have the opportunity to grow up feeling a strong sense of belonging.

This Black History Month, we celebrate the difference that diversity can make in fostering children in your local community and, recognise the importance of creating positive experiences for every child.

Our local councils are calling for more foster carers for teenagers. 💛

There can be lots of myths around fostering teens, but we’re here to chat, answer your questions and put you in touch with experienced foster carers who can share what it’s really like.

Some of our carers even started out wanting to foster toddlers and now foster teenagers!
