For many people, a pothole is an inconvenience.

For a mobility scooter user, it can be life-changing.

We're proud to be working with the Pothole Partnership to highlight the impact poor road and pavement maintenance can have on vulnerable road users - including mobility scooter users, cyclists and motorcyclists.

A huge thank you to Edmund King and the team at The AA UK, along with our partners at JCB, British Cycling and the National Motorcyclists Council, for helping shine a light on this important issue.

With an estimated 750,000 mobility scooters now in use across the UK and numbers expected to rise, it's vital that discussions around potholes and infrastructure consider the needs of everyone who relies on our roads and pavements.

☀️ With the UK in the middle of a record-breaking May heatwave, here's what mobility scooter users need to know.

The heat brings a few extra things to think about before heading out on your scooter:

✅ Carry water and drink regularly
✅ Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and sun cream
✅ If possible, go out early or late to avoid the peak heat
✅ Stick to shaded routes where you can
✅ Monitor the battery for overheating
✅ Store your scooter in the shade or indoors when not in use

🎉 Two Years of the Safer Mobility Campaign

Two years ago, we launched the Safer Mobility Campaign to fight for a group of road users who had been overlooked for too long.

Here's what we've achieved together:

✅ Distributed over 11,000 safety packs and reflective sticker bundles
✅ Conducted the only known analysis of 10 years of mobility scooter casualty data
✅ Supported a major research project with Nottingham Trent University, funded by the Road Safety Trust
✅ Reached national audiences through BBC News, BBC Kent and more
✅ Been joined by brave campaigners, including Dawn, Josh and Dean, who have shared their stories to help drive real change

Last night’s 2026 Met Gala made history.

Aariana Rose Philip became the first wheelchair user to attend the Met Gala in the event’s 78-year history.

Philip, who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, has spent years breaking barriers in fashion, and this moment feels like a long-overdue recognition of that.

We hope Aariana’s historic appearance is a sign of more to come, not just at the Met, but across every industry and space.

A message from our Director, Stuart 💙

"My girls are my world, and my biggest achievement by far.

When Maria was just 14, we got the devastating news that she had a brain tumour.

The news no 14 year old should ever have to receive. And the news no parent should ever have to hear.

Our brave girl had surgery to remove the tumour, and we hoped that would be the end of it. Sadly, she's been left with lasting side effects, and still hasn't regained hearing on her right side. I've seen first hand the impact this has had, not just on her physical health, but on her mental health too.

And now, we're facing it again. My eldest daughter has also been diagnosed with a brain tumour, and we are awaiting treatment options.

We want her to also have the very best care, research, and support behind her.

That's why I'm so proud to share that Maria is running a half marathon for The Brain Tumour Charity. She knows first hand what it means to need their support, and she wants to give back so other families don't have to face this alone."

Josh is 18. His mobility scooter is the only way he can leave the house on his own.

Last year, a car hit him while he was crossing the road. He landed metres away and thought he was paralysed.

Josh is recovering physically, but he no longer feels safe near roads.

This is exactly why we started the Safer Mobility Campaign.

The number of people relying on mobility scooters is only increasing. The law needs to reflect that.

You may have seen this on BBC News this week.

Josh is one of our customers.

Last year, he was involved in a collision with a car. He feared he was paralysed.

He's recovering physically. But he no longer feels safe near roads.

At only 18 years old, Josh was incredibly brave and shared how he relies on his mobility scooter because of chronic back pain - it's what gives him his independence.

We're really proud that Josh trusted us with his story, and that it's now reaching an even wider audience through the BBC.

This is why the Safer Mobility Campaign matters:

→ Mobility scooters are essential for thousands of people across the UK
→ Yet scooter users are still underrepresented in road safety conversations
→ Road design and policy rarely account for their needs

Road safety should work for everyone and stories like Josh's are helping to change that.
