📢 Opportunity for Young Disabled People 📢

At Community Brokerage Network, we believe that disabled people should be at the heart of shaping the services and support that affect their lives.

ILF Scotland and Social Value Lab are currently looking for young disabled people aged 16–30 to join a paid peer research team exploring experiences of the Transition Fund. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills, meet other young people with lived experience, and help influence future support for disabled people across Scotland.

The role is flexible, fully supported, and no previous research experience is required.

Take a look at the information below for full details, and please share with anyone who may be interested.

💷 £180 per day
💻 Mostly online
✅ Full training provided
📅 Expression of interest deadline: Monday 8th June, 5pm

Are you aged 16 to 30 and have lived experience of disability?

Join us as a Peer Researcher!

ILF Scotland and Social Value Lab are looking for eight young disabled people to join a peer research team exploring experiences of the Transition Fund. Peer Researchers will help shape questions, speak to other young people about their experiences, and help make sense of the data we collect. No previous research experience is needed and full training and support will be provided.

You don’t need to have received a grant from the Transition Fund – or meet its eligibility criteria – to apply and take part.

The role is flexible and designed around people’s needs and other commitments, with most activities able to take place online. You will join us for seven days in total between June and October 2026. Each researcher will receive £180 per day, with travel, access costs, childcare, and other reasonable expenses covered.

To express interest, contact Anna at [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 8th June 2026. You can send a short informal email explaining a little about yourself and why you are interested or get in touch to arrange an informal conversation.

Looking forward to attending today’s Health and Care Event hosted by Arran Community and Voluntary Service.

The event is open to the public and is a great opportunity for people in the community to meet local groups, organisations, and services that may be able to offer support, advice, activities, or practical help.

It’s also a chance for organisations to connect, share ideas, and highlight the fantastic work happening across Arran to support health and wellbeing.

If you’re attending, please come and say hello, I’m looking forward to some great conversations throughout the day.

Fabulous news to hear that this leadership development programme is being funded again. Our Operations Manager, Kaye Robertson did this course herself almost 10 years ago, and it changed the course of her career and life.

After meeting the founder of Community Brokerage Network during this programme, she left her corporate life behind and joined CBN as a broker shortly afterwards and has been advocating for herself, her son and our clients ever since.

She would highly recommend this programme to any parent / carer or disabled person who feels unheard or overlooked.

We need to continue to build leadership skills within our communities to ensure that the voices of disabled people and unpaid carers are heard, taken seriously and acted upon. It’s more important now than ever.

EXCITING NEWS........ As you may have already heard, we have received funding to bring back the fantastic 'Partners in Policymaking' programme. We will be running the programme over 8 residential sessions from September 2026 - March 2027 at Stirling Court Hotel in Stirling. Please share the information with any parents of disabled children (up to the age of 18) and any disabled adults (18 and over) you may know and think would be interested in applying for a place on the programme.😀
