Over the years, we've delivered gabion installations on projects of every size - from small, manually filled retaining walls in restricted locations to major infrastructure schemes exceeding 3,000m³.

Working with contractors, local authorities and infrastructure clients across Scotland and the UK, we've built a reputation for delivering high-quality workmanship, practical engineering solutions and dependable service.

If you're planning a project involving retaining walls, erosion control or ground stabilisation, our team is always happy to offer advice and discuss the most suitable solution.

Our team recently completed the careful dismantling and rebuilding of two historic stone retaining walls on the A9 for BEAR Scotland. More than 300 tonnes of stone were taken down by hand, cleaned and reused, preserving a structure that has stood for around 70 years.

It was a challenging project that combined traditional craftsmanship with modern civil engineering, while giving our apprentices the opportunity to learn alongside experienced stonemasons and help keep these skills alive.

A huge thank you to everyone involved. We're incredibly proud of what the team achieved.

🎥 Here's a look back at the project.

Every successful project starts with a conversation. At JML Contracts, we support our clients from the earliest stages of a project, providing technical advice, site visits and preliminary design assessments before work even begins on site. From there, we can deliver CAD drawings, product specification, design support, supply and installation, ensuring a seamless process from concept through to construction.

Whether it's a gabion retaining wall, erosion control, ground reinforcement or another specialist retaining solution, our experienced team works closely with clients to develop practical, cost-effective solutions that stand the test of time.

If you're planning an upcoming project, we'd be happy to discuss how we can help.

A great foundation pour completed by our Civils team for one of our JML SIPs full turnkey homes currently being built in Bridge of Allan.

Quality starts below ground, and it's always satisfying to see a neat, well-executed pour setting the stage for the build ahead. Great work by the team!

Project Spotlight: Glendevon Bridge Repair and Strengthening Works

We’re proud to look back on the successful delivery of the Glendevon Bridge Repair and Strengthening Works for Perth & Kinross Council. Following the collapse of the existing bridge structure, our team was brought in to deliver a challenging programme of specialist repair works, combining modern civil engineering techniques with traditional masonry craftsmanship. The project included in-water excavations and reinforced concrete abutment construction, installation of a structural steel culvert within the existing arch, and the rebuilding of spandrel and parapet walls using reclaimed masonry and lime mortar construction.

Additional works included the construction of retaining walls, installation of Redi-Rock blocks within the watercourse, and full carriageway reconstruction to highway specification. Working within a challenging environment, including close proximity to high voltage wind farm services, the project required careful planning, specialist skills and close coordination throughout.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved in delivering this £230k project and restoring this important piece of local infrastructure.

Not every workplace comes with a view quite like this. Taken from the scaffold during our recently completed works at Drumochter, this photo is a reminder of some of the incredible locations our teams have the opportunity to work in across Scotland.

The scenery may have been spectacular, but it was the dedication and hard work of the team that made this challenging project such a success.
