The AU Peace Fund held its first-ever Joint Retreat in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bringing together its Governance Bodies in person for the first time since full operationalization.

During the opening ceremony of the AU Peace Fund Joint Retreat, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, emphasized the critical link between peace, stability, and sustainable development across Africa.

The gathering of the Board of Trustees, Independent Evaluation Group, Executive Management Committee, Fund Managers, and Peace Fund Secretariat created an important opportunity for better coordination and shared strategic reflection.

Ahead of the AU Peace Fund Joint Retreat, the Board of Trustees convened a meeting in Addis Ababa, discussing strategic resource mobilization efforts, including partnership engagement with the Government of Denmark, the first non-AU member state to commit financial support to the Peace Fund.
