فى يوم 9 رمضان من 39 سنة:

"دخلت على اللواء عبد المنعم واصل..قائد الجيش الثالث الميدانى..فوجدته يراجع الخطبة التى سوف يلقيها على جنوده عند بدء القتال وطلب رأيى فيها..قلت له أنها خطبة ممتازة ولكن لن يسمعها أحد وسط هدير المدافع والرشاشات وتساقط القتلى والجرحى..فى هذه الأجواء لن ينصت أحد..
ولمعت فى ذهنى فكرة بعثها الله لتوها..لماذا لا نقوم بتوزيع مكبرات صوت على طول الجبهة وننادى فيها: الله أكبر..
هذه هى أقصر خطبة وأقواها..
اتصلت بمدير ادارة الشئون العامة وطلبت منه تدبير 50 مكبر صوت ترانزيستور على أن يتم تسليمها للجيشين الثانى والثالث قبل العاشرة من صباح الغد..
وفى الساعة الثانية والنصف عصرا يوم السبت العاشر من رمضان كانت الجبهة كلها مشتعلة بنداء: الله أكبر..تردده موجات عشرات الآلاف من الجنود خلف مكبرات الصوت فى أثناء عبورهم للقناة وفى طريقهم لاقتحام خط بارليف"
