The balance organ is also in the inner ear. Together with the eyes and the surface and depth sensitivity, it serves to maintain balance.
The vestibular system consists of three semicircular canals. Each of the semicircular canals has a so-called sensory ridge on which the sensory cells lie. The semicircular canals are perpendicular to each other at a 90° angle and thus capture the three dimensions of the room. The large atrial sac and the small atrial sac also belong to the balance organ. In these sacs are the sensory fields, whose sensory cells serve to perceive speed.
