WIDU.africa is a digital platform that mobilises diaspora remittances into sustainable investments to support the development of micro and small businesses in Ghana. Our goal is to empower local Ghanaian entrepreneurs, create new job opportunities and strengthen the local economy. Through a transparent, reliable and safe channel, WIDU.
africa allows members of the diaspora to support their friends and family by jointly applying for our financing instruments. WIDU is always free of charge.
๐ข๐๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ง๐ผ๐ผ๐น๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐. A diaspora donor and a local entrepreneur apply together on the WIDU.africa platform. Once the investment plan is approved, WIDU.africa provides technical support through three tailored coaching sessions and disburses a grant that matches the contributions of both applicants, up to 3โ000โฌ. Stay informed about our Local Calls through our social media channels. These are time-limited thematic financing opportunities of up to 5โ000โฌ that do not require diaspora participation.
๐ช๐ต๐ผ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐น๐? Ghanaians residing in one of the 27 countries of the European Union, Norway or Switzerland can participate in the programme and support their friends and family in Ghana. On the beneficiary side, all project leaders and entrepreneurs, regardless of sector, are eligible to apply. The only exception is Local Calls that require specific thematic eligibility criteria. WIDU.africa works to support local entrepreneurs in eight other African countries: Cรดte dโIvoire, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia

WIDU.africa is a project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union. In collaboration with the African diaspora in Europe, WIDU applies an innovative approach that combines financial support and coaching to strengthen new and existing micro and small businesses in Africa, leading to the creation of new jobs and economic development.
