Elpidoforos is a prominent leader in educational innovation, currently serving as Head of Educational Innovation for STEAM & Emerging Technologies at Globeducate. He founded the Cyprus Space Foundation, creating a platform for integrating space science into education, which includes nine Space Centers across Europe that provide hands-on experiences in AI, robotics, and sustainability.

Director of Blue Economy, Shipping, and Yachting

Mr. Vassilios Demetriades is the Director of Blue Economy, Shipping, and Yachting of the CIH. He is an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in the maritime industry, particularly in shipping and integrated maritime policies.

Serving as the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President of the Republic of Cyprus from July 2020 to February 2023, Vassilios played a pivotal role in formulating the strategic vision for Cyprus Shipping, known as “SEA change 2030.” With extensive professional experience in key positions, both in Cyprus and the EU, Vassilios has a deep understanding of maritime transport strategies and external relations.

He demonstrated leadership at global and regional level putting forward initiatives to promote a safer and environmentally sustainable maritime transport sector. His commitment to sustainability extended to the development of Cyprus’ Blue Economy through initiatives like the formulation of Cyprus’ Maritime Spatial Plan and the promotion of an Agenda for the sustainable use of Oceans by Commonwealth countries.
