Ten thousand francs to straighten your child's teeth. Basic insurance doesn't pay for it.
Orthodontics isn't covered by LAMal. Basic insurance only steps in for serious cases — severe conditions of the masticatory system, accidents, congenital conditions recognised by the AI. Your child's ordinary braces, no.
There's supplementary cover that takes care of it, starting from fifteen francs a month. But there's a condition: insurers check the state of the teeth before accepting. If the problem is already there, it shows — a panoramic x-ray is enough — and that gets excluded.
It's not about age. What matters is that the teeth are fine now.
Send me a DM and I'll tell you where you stand. In English, Italian or Spanish.
