In episode 9 of Half Past Capitalism, guest Gopal Dayaneni talks climate justice, creating a crisis of jurisdiction, and building a visionary democratic network of cooperative funding.
In a few years, Seed Commons has grown into a $15 million fund that supports worker cooperatives meeting community needs marginalized areas. Their approach to "non-extractive finance" puts emphasis on relationships and supporting worker owned businesses to succeed by every measure.
Along the way, Gopal lays out his vision for movement building and how cooperatives fit into it. Sneak preview: he doesn't think we can "co-op our way out of capitalism."
