Forecasters keep predicting linear growth for solar, EVs, batteries, and keep getting blown past by actual S-curve adoption, year after year. It’s a good reminder that exponential technologies are chronically underestimated by institutions anchored to past trends.

That said, an S-curve eventually flattens too, so it’s worth asking where these technologies are in that curve, not just betting the trend continues forever.
