ProAction Hockey League - Parkdale Division

ProAction Hockey League - Parkdale Division Free Ice Hockey program run by cops for kids in the Parkdale area, who otherwise would probably never be able to play because of the financial cost.

The ProAction Hockey League started 7 years ago by officers from 54 Division, Toronto Police Service. They brought organized ice hockey to the Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park neighbourhoods. With the help of ProAction Cops & Kids and JumpStart, they gave kids ages 8-11 from these priority neighbourhoods the opportunity to learn Canada's game for free. Last year, officers from 14 Division are

starting up the Parkdale Division. This league is based on the idea of the original ProAction Hockey League; however, is run separately. In our first season, we had 28 kids ages 8-11 signed up from the Parkdale area. The league ran from late October until April, Sundays at McCormick Arena. We started with skating basics, progressed into hockey skills, and eventually started playing games. Due to the success of our first season, we have more than doubled our program. We have 61 kids signed up this year. We have started with skating basics and hockey skill development. Our goal is to eventually split into 4 teams and have the teams play against each other.

No hockey this season but we hope to be back on the ice in the Fall of 2021.

Once wave 2 of COVID19 lightens up, we’ll see about scheduling an equipment return date.
