Why do you need a dedicated Group Retirement team?
Because setting up a plan is just the beginning. The real work starts after the launch.
Here’s what our team actually does—day in, day out:

→ We review your plan every year to make sure it’s still the right fit. That includes fees, fund performance, plan design, and benchmarking.

→ We support your admin team so they’re not stuck chasing paperwork or trying to interpret insurer fine print. We ensure compliance, protect privacy and reduce risk, so you can stay focused on your people and your business.

→ We give your members a direct line to support —no call centres, no waiting in queues, just real people, ready to help when your members need it.

→ We run on-site and virtual education sessions that are tailored to your organizations’ needs—designed to engage plan members and simplify retirement planning through clear, accessible guidance.

Group retirement shouldn’t feel like an obligation. It should be a strategic tool, and a real benefit, for your business and your people.

This year, recognizing Canada Day feels especially poignant. It’s no surprise that a day celebrating a key milestone in Canadian independence prompts reflection on what it means to be Canadian, but recent events have brought that question into much sharper focus. Suddenly, the nation is considering our sovereignty and identity through a lens that, collectively, we haven’t experienced in generations, if ever.

At Leslie Consulting Group, the work we do allows us to interact with Canadians from all walks of life. Manufacturing workers in Trenton. Call centre staff in Peterborough. Personal support workers, nurses, and medical staff across Ontario and beyond. Tech entrepreneurs and banking professionals in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Vancouver. Oil workers in Alberta. Mining workers in the Maritimes. Small business owners in Winnipeg. Fast food workers across the country. Even professional athletes representing their cities’ favourite teams.

Some are in their first job out of school, earning entry-level salaries. Others are well into established careers or even returning to the workforce in their seventies.

On the surface, their experiences may seem to have little in common. Some have known Canada since birth as have their parents and grandparents. For others, Canada is their adopted home. Their political opinions differ, casting votes across party lines or perhaps not at all. They value different freedoms and rights, and some have had to fight for those rights through political and legal systems.

But with all these differences, what we continue to learn each day is not about how people differ, but about what they share, and how much we all rely on one another. They share dreams for their betterment, to provide for their loved ones, to have a home they can afford, to be healthy, to carve out a better future for the next generation.

No group functions independently of the others. Despite our differences, we need each other to move forward. Canada is not a perfect nation and no nation is. But it is an exceptional one, with extraordinary promise. And the challenges we face, we must face together.

From all of us at Leslie Consulting Group, Happy Canada Day!

Is your benefits program still serving your people, or is it just ticking a box?

On National Insurance Awareness Day, it’s time to ask:
👉 Is your benefits plan future-ready?

At Leslie Consulting Group, we work with organizations to modernize their total rewards strategy, because a benefits program should do more than just exist. It should drive retention, support employees and their wellbeing.

Here are four key questions every HR and business leader should ask:

1. Does it meet the needs of a multi-generational workforce?
Younger employees may crave flexibility and mental health support, while older workers may prioritize prescription coverage and extended health benefits. Personalization is no longer a nice-to-have, it’s expected.

2. Do your employees actually understand their coverage?
Education is everything. A well-communicated plan increases engagement and helps your team see the full value of their total rewards, not just their paycheck.

3. Is your plan cost-efficient and sustainable?
Smart plan design and regular reviews can help unlock rate guarantees, better loss ratios, and long-term cost containment without compromising coverage.

4. Is your plan keeping pace with the market?
We benchmark your plan against others in your sector, helping you spot gaps, assess risk, and make confident decisions backed by real data.

Whether you’re growing fast, re-evaluating or planning for 2026, we’ll help you build a plan that works for your people and your business.

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of participating in Trinity Village’s 28th Annual Golf Tournament at the Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club. This fantastic event raises funds to support Trinity Village in providing compassionate care and housing options for older adults.

Trinity Village offers a range of services, from independent studios to specialized care centers and adult day programs, ensuring residents receive the support they need at every stage. Their commitment to enhancing seniors’ quality of life through innovative programs and community services inspires us deeply.

As a proud gift sponsor, we contributed some special prizes to the tournament, and our very own Chris Goodale had the honour of announcing the group winners of the event! It was inspiring to see so many enthusiastic golfers coming together for such an important cause.

We’re grateful to be part of a community that values care, connection, and support for seniors. Thank you to Trinity Village for hosting this wonderful event, we look forward to many more years of collaboration.

As Indigenous History Month comes to a close, we’re reminded that meaningful reconciliation doesn’t follow a calendar, it’s ongoing work.

This month has offered space for learning, reflection, and deeper understanding of the diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. Their leadership continues to shape our communities, in sustainability, education, health, governance, and beyond—despite the barriers that persist.

As we recognize this month, it’s a chance to reflect on how we show up, in our workplaces, policies, and day-to-day choices.

🔸 Learn: Take the free Indigenous Canada course by the University of Alberta to deepen your understanding of Indigenous histories and perspectives.

🔸 Support: Discover Indigenous-owned businesses and commit to spending intentionally.

🔸 Create positive change: Without Truth, there cannot be Reconciliation.  We encourage folks to review the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and reflect on the steps that can be taken personally and professionally.

In our benefits plans and workplaces this means asking:

▪️ Are our plans inclusive of traditional healing practices and mental health supports such as coverage for elders and traditional healers?
▪️Is the health & dental program properly designed to coordinate with NIHB?
▪️Are benefit schedules reflective of members earning non-taxable income?
▪️Are community officials who are earning honorariums properly insured?

Let’s carry this awareness forward, not just in June, but every day. Honouring Indigenous voices and perspectives is a responsibility we all share.

Today, our VP of Finance, Chris Goodale is sharing his perspective on the role employers play in supporting men’s mental health.

While mental health impacts everyone, men often face unique pressures that make it harder to speak up or seek help. That’s why creating a culture of care matters.

Here are five ways organizations can take meaningful acton:

1. Encourage open conversations and reduce stigma. Create a safe environment where employees feel comfortable discussing mental health without fear of judgment or consequences.

2. Provide accessible mental health resources. Ensure employees can easily access Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), counselling services, mental health days, and educational materials to support their well-being.

3. Train managers and leaders. Equip them to recognize signs of mental health challenges and respond effectively, fostering trust and support within their teams.

4. Offer flexible work options and promote work-life balance. Include remote work, flexible hours, mental health days, and encourage regular breaks and vacations to help manage stress.

5. Build a supportive workplace culture. Implement wellness programs focusing on holistic health, recognize mental health initiatives, maintain regular check-ins to discuss well-being, and foster ongoing education and awareness.

Real talk: Too many men are struggling in silence and the impact is real. The pressure to stay composed, especially at work, often keeps people from reaching out.

June is Men’s Health Month, and we’re proud to support the campaign by the It’s a simple but powerful message: reaching out is strength, not weakness.

Pride Month is here, and for us at Leslie Consulting Group, it’s a reminder of why inclusive benefits matter.

When we help clients design benefit and retirement plans, we think about real people—chosen families, gender-affirming care, and financial planning that reflects lived experience. The LGBTQ+ community deserves benefits that aren’t just technically covered, but truly supportive. We’re proud to work with employers who advocate for systems that recognize everyone’s worth.
