Final Expense Planning Reality Check - Somebody gets stuck with the bills, and it is usually someone you say you love.
Death is not a fun topic and families don’t like to talk about or plan for it. Truth is death is a reality and it is guaranteed to come whether or not we decide to plan for it.
I speak to Canadians about what they want to happen when they die, who is going to be taking care of their funeral and their estate etc.
Some folks know what they want and implement a plan so their families don’t have to deal with the financial aspect of things when the time comes; others procrastinate and their families suffer the consequences.
Many Ontarians have said to me “you know what when my loved one dies I am going to be the one who has to deal with all this stuff” and they are the ones who sometimes get other family members together and they fund these plans for their loved ones.
These are some of the facts about final expense planning:
✅ it is your responsibility
✅ it is selfish to leave your responsibilities on someone else, especially someone you claim to love
✅ planning won’t cause you to die prematurely
✅ not planning won’t extend your life
✅ proacstinating is foolish, you have no idea when your day will come
✅ planning isn’t morbid or expensive - not planning is
