*Canola - Canola will grow based on space, weather conditions and nutrition available. The number of seeds and smaller seed adds another factor. Even using the same size stem can very greatly in the amount of pods per plant. All makes this crop very hard to benchmark
*Pulses - Have larger seed, plants tend to produce approximately the same based on relatively same conditions, easier to set a benchmark
*Cereals - Original head size should be considered when assessing viable tillers. Benchmarking kernel size and kernels per head should be considered when counting viable tillers.

2026 was another year that created uncertainty with the use of the Canola recovery Chart.
*This year had above average conditions at seeding time most crops germinated faster than normal. (Staging Affected)
*Hail storms came in the first part to middle of July. (Flowering Stages)
* Shortage of moisture and hot temperatures reduced normal recovery (Canola Charts are based on average conditions for recovery)
*All these factors considered the charts may not be accurate to calculate the plants recovery
*Reinspection of losses paid maybe necessary
