Canada got expensive fast. Here is the proof in 4 seconds.
2000 vs 2026:
Home: $164K vs $668K
Earnings: $47K vs $70K
Coffee: $1.50 vs $3.25
Gas: $0.70/L vs $1.60/L
Food/week: $120 vs $338
Rent 2-bed: $700/mo vs $2,130/mo
Prices went 4X. Paycheques did not. That gap is why income protection matters now.

Do this before you die. Not after.
In Ontario, owning assets does not automatically mean your family receives them smoothly. Here is what actually protects them:
• Name beneficiaries directly on your RRSPs, TFSAs, and life insurance. Those assets skip probate entirely.
• Own life insurance equal to the debt you owe. Name your spouse or a trust, not minor children directly.
• Get a proper will and powers of attorney. Set up a trust for minor kids and assign the life insurance to it.
• Less probate. Less tax. The insurance payout lands tax-free, so your kids get the wealth, not the burden.
The life insurance piece is where I come in. The right policy puts instant, tax-efficient funds in your family’s hands exactly when they need them most.
Every family’s situation is different. Talk to an estate lawyer before changing beneficiaries or setting up trusts.

$120,000 salary in Ontario. Sounds amazing, until you see where it actually goes.

Here is the rough breakdown:
Federal tax: ~$17,502
Provincial tax: ~$9,386
CPP and EI: ~$5,770
Take-home: ~$87,343

You earn $10,000 a month. You keep $7,279. That is $2,721 gone before it ever touches your account.

But here is what most people miss. Putting $8,000 into an FHSA (First Home Savings Account) can put roughly $2,600 back in your pocket at tax time. $10,000 into an RRSP? Roughly $3,700 back. Legal, simple, and most Canadians leave this money on the table every single year.

The government will always take its share. The question is whether you take back what is yours.

I am Navneet, a licensed insurance broker serving the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). I help families protect what they earn and keep more of it through smart insurance and savings strategies.

🇨🇦 Family income above $90,000 in Canada? Here’s what quietly shrinks — or disappears.
Most federal benefits in Canada are income-tested: the more your family earns, the less you get. Around the $90K mark, many are a fraction of what they were — and some are gone entirely:
👶 Canada Child Benefit (CCB) — monthly tax-free payments, reduced as family net income rises
🧾 GST/HST Credit — tax-free quarterly payments aimed at lower incomes
💼 Canada Workers Benefit — refundable tax credit for lower-income workers
🦷 Canadian Dental Care Plan — you must be under $90K family income to even qualify
🏠 Housing & rent assistance — mostly targeted at lower incomes
🧒 Childcare fee subsidies — reduced-fee programs are income-tested
⚡ Energy & utility rebates — many are income-based
🏛️ Provincial top-ups like the Ontario Trillium Benefit — also income-tested
Technically these phase out gradually, not overnight — but the direction is the same: as income climbs, government benefits fade. That’s exactly when protecting your own income matters most. 💡
I’m Navneet, a licensed insurance broker serving the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). I help families protect what they earn — life insurance, disability coverage and more — so a shrinking benefit never becomes a crisis.

Clean driving record… so why did your Ontario car insurance premium go up? 🚗📈

Even if you had no tickets and no accidents, your renewal price can be affected by factors beyond your individual driving record — including your vehicle, location, theft risk, claims costs, repair costs, and broader market conditions. Ontario’s regulator, FSRA, specifically notes that these factors can affect premiums.

For example, newer vehicles can be more expensive to repair because of cameras and sensors, while theft and fraud can also contribute to insurance costs.

But does that mean every increase is justified? 🤔

What do you think — fair pricing or too expensive? Tell me in the comments.

🚨 Financed car + no comprehensive coverage = a risk many drivers overlook.

Imagine your financed vehicle is stolen, but your policy doesn’t include coverage for theft. You could lose the vehicle and still have a loan obligation to deal with.

Comprehensive coverage can protect against things like theft, fire and vandalism, but the coverage requirements for a financed vehicle can depend on your lender and policy.

Before removing coverage just to save a few dollars each month, make sure you understand what you’re giving up.

💬 Have a financed car? Comment “FINANCED” and I’ll help you check whether your policy includes comprehensive coverage.

Going to India for 1–2 months? ✈️🇮🇳

Before you cancel your car insurance in Canada, make sure you know your options!

If your car is parked in the garage while you’re away, you may be eligible for storage or parked-car insurance. This could help lower your monthly premium while keeping protection against certain risks, such as theft or weather damage.

But here’s the important part: eligibility and available coverage depend on your insurance company and your situation.

A $2,500 increase in car insurance in just one year? 😳

Could your driving habits help lower your car insurance premium? 🚗📱

Telematics programs can offer significant discounts when you demonstrate safe driving habits like smoother braking, controlled acceleration and responsible speeds.

Some insurance companies offer discounts of up to 25–30%, and certain programs may go even higher.

But the important question is: Which insurance companies offer the best telematics discounts?

Comment DRIVE and I’ll tell you what options you should ask about.
