Celebrating one year of the 3 Minute Financial Fix in The Meaford Independent! 🎉

Over the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing practical financial planning ideas with readers throughout our community—and, even better, hearing your thoughts, questions, and experiences along the way. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reach out. Your engagement has helped turn this column into much more than a monthly article—it’s become a conversation.

To mark the one-year anniversary, I’m revisiting one of the most popular articles from the past year: “Keep It in the Fairway: Golf-Inspired Mind Traps to Avoid in Investing and Life.” https://themeafordindependent.ca/the-3-minute-financial-fix-celebrating-one-year-of-the-3-minute-financial-fix/

And this isn’t simply a reprint—it’s a refreshed look at six common mental traps that can influence the way we make decisions, both financially and in everyday life.

Because whether you’re on the golf course or navigating life’s financial decisions, sometimes the smartest move is simply to slow down, reassess, and focus on the next shot.

I hope you enjoy the article—and perhaps find a reminder or two that helps you stay in the fairway.

Here’s to another year of financial conversations! ⛳

I’m pleased to share the latest edition of my 3 Minute Financial Fix series in the Meaford Independent, where I explore why a Will is far more than a legal document — it’s a roadmap for the people you care about most.

In this article, I discuss:
✔️ Choosing the right Executor
✔️ Naming guardians for minor children
✔️ Why family conversations matter
✔️ Estate planning considerations for farmers and business owners
✔️ The importance of regularly reviewing your Will

Too often, families are left navigating confusion and conflict simply because important conversations never happened.

A current and well-communicated Will can provide clarity, protect relationships, and offer peace of mind during life’s most difficult moments.

🤿 “Plan the dive, dive the plan.”

It’s one of the first rules in scuba diving — and it might be one of the most important lessons for your finances too.

Without a clear plan, even calm waters can become dangerous. The same is true for your estate. Without structure and clarity, your loved ones can be left navigating confusion, stress, and unintended consequences.

In my latest “3 Minute Financial Fix” article in the Meaford Independent newspaper, I walk through the 7 essential steps of estate planning — and why having a plan in place is one of the most important decisions you can make for your family.

💬 When was the last time you reviewed your estate plan? Or have you started one yet? Curious which type of income is most tax-efficient — or how your portfolio stacks up? Happy to have a conversation.
