Hot off the press! The Canadian federal government has officially launched the First-Time Home Buyer GST Rebate (FTHB GST Rebate) — and it’s a game-changer!
Highlights:
✅ Get up to $50,000 GST rebate on brand new homes
✅ 100% GST rebate on homes under $1M
✅ Partial rebate for homes priced between $1M–$1.5M (sliding scale)
❌ Homes over $1.5M not eligible
Who qualifies?
✔ First-time home buyers (you or your spouse haven’t owned a home in the past 4 years)
✔ Age 18+, Canadian citizen or PR
Eligible properties include:
🏘️ Brand new homes from builders (even on leased land)
🏗️ Self-built or contractor-built homes
🏢 Shares in a housing co-op
Important timelines:
🗓️ Purchase agreement must be signed after May 27, 2025
🏠 Construction must start by 2031 and complete by 2036
