Lately I’ve been leaning more into contract bookkeeping through Built to Balance—and I’m really enjoying helping bring order back to the “messy middle” for business owners.

I have space for 1–2 new clients right now, especially for cleanup or catch-up work
(if things have fallen behind, you’re not alone).

I also support simple quarterly or ongoing bookkeeping to keep things manageable without it piling up.

Always grateful for the support, shares, and referrals 💛

Lately, I’ve noticed a little pattern in my bookkeeping work — more people than you’d think haven’t filed their taxes since 2020.

It makes sense when you think about it. That year changed everything, and for some, the paperwork just never quite caught up. But here we are four years later… and that “I’ll get to it soon” feeling has turned into missed credits, lost CRA benefits, and sometimes, penalties that quietly pile up.

If you’re Canadian — and if you or someone you know hasn’t filed for a few years — you’re not alone, and it’s absolutely fixable.

I can’t promise it’ll be free-free, but I do truly believe there are always options — and absolutely a place to start.

Reach out if you’d like a hand getting back on track.

🛠Toolkit Drop #5

Technology is amazing.
Detail-oriented humans are even more amazing.
Yet the dreaded double entry slips into A/P invoices more than we’d like to admit.

Toolkit tip: set a simple naming or numbering convention for every invoice that touches your system — even if it already has one.
This tiny layer of redundancy is often what saves you from chasing ghosts in your payables later.

I know you’re out there.
Building customers, keeping projects moving, juggling the never-ending list.

And then — invoices, bills, month-end. Already?
Where does the time go.

Maybe you’ve got help (she’s brilliant, but also stretched thin).
Maybe you’re doing it yourself between late-night emails and early-morning calls.

Here’s the thing: your books don’t have to be another hustle.
That’s where I come in.

I help small business owners and trades keep their numbers straight — invoices sent, bills paid, records ready — so they can stay focused on the work that actually grows the business.

Quietly, consistently, in the background.
Think of me as resilience with receipts.

📢 Exciting step for Built to Balance

I’ve listed my bookkeeping + admin services on Facebook Marketplace

If you’re in Maple Ridge or the Fraser Valley and could use some extra balance in your books — or know someone who could — I’d be grateful if you’d share, tag, or simply send a little good energy my way.

Because even the most resilient solopreneurs and small businesses shouldn’t have to wrestle their receipts alone.
Numbers can be neat… when they’re not living rent-free in your head. 😉

In balance and in service, always.

Whispers from the Ledger Vol. 5 ✍️

If order confirmations are entered into the books as costs, when audit time comes around… well, let’s just say the auditor won’t be confirming much besides a headache.

Remember: an order confirmation is just a promise—not proof of purchase.

Wait for the invoice or receipt before recording the expense.
This slip can not only throw off your bottom line, but your GST reporting too.

Toolkit Drop #4

Keep the Receipts… Literally. 🧾

Order confirmations in your inbox are nice to have, but they aren’t the same as receipts that actually match your bank transactions. That little piece of paper—or PDF—that confirms what you actually paid is your best friend when it comes to bookkeeping, taxes, and avoiding end-of-year headaches.

Think of it this way: an order confirmation tells you what you ordered, but your receipt proves what you paid—and that’s what your bank sees. Keeping everything organized, matched, and easy to find isn’t just neat—it’s smart.

So, before you toss that receipt, double-check: does it line up with your bank statement? If yes, file it. If not… investigate before it becomes a problem.

Keep the receipts and the resilience.
You’ll need both.

☀️ Summer’s Over—Hello Again! ☀️

If you noticed a little quiet on this page, that was me taking a summer pause to recharge, enjoy some sunshine, and catch up on life (and yes, even my own bookkeeping!).

Now I’m back, and here’s a friendly nudge from me to you: don’t just save order confirmations—keep the receipts that actually match your bank.
A little extra organization now saves a lot of headache later. 🧾

Returned, organized, and still resilient.

🧾 Whispers from the Ledger, Vol. 4

📅 Wednesday, June 18

You did the job. You deserve to be paid — without the scramble.

If invoicing is the part that always slips through the cracks, you’re not alone.

You’ve got boots in the mud, sawdust on your hands, or spreadsheets full of work delivered…
but the money doesn’t move until the invoice does.

You don’t need motivation — you need a rhythm.
Invoicing isn’t an afterthought.
It’s simply the final step.

You finished the job. Send the invoice while the work is still fresh — not forgotten.
Because in the day-to-day, a day turns into a week real fast.

P.S. Need a fix..?
This week’s Toolkit Drop #3 shared a simple trick to make invoicing part of your workflow — not an afterthought.

Keep the receipts and the resilience.
You’ll need both.

In balance and in service, always.

🧰 Toolkit Drop #3

📅 Tuesday, June 17

You did the work.
The client’s happy.
Now all that’s left… is the part you dread:
Sending the damn invoice.

You’re not the only one.
So many of us stall here — not because we’re lazy, but because switching from service mode to admin mode is really quite a pain.

But the money doesn’t move until you do.
Let’s make that step easier.

💡 Instead of “I’ll get to it later…” try:
“When I send the final photo, I send the invoice too.”
Or:
“Once I wrap the job — or send the final email — I send the invoice.”

Pair invoicing with a habit you already have in motion.

Make it muscle memory — not mental load.
