One of the most important things I tell clients is this: Homeownership isn’t automatically the right choice for everyone.

Yes, buying a home can be an incredible goal. But sometimes renting is actually the better option based on your finances, lifestyle, career plans, or stage of life.

The transition from renter to homeowner can be emotional. It’s exciting, but it also comes with responsibility, commitment, and a whole new reality.

My job isn’t to convince people to buy a house. My job is to help people find the option that makes the most sense for THEM.

Because the right financial decision is the one that supports your goals, not someone else’s.

I once worked with a woman who was convinced she would never be able to buy a home.

She sent me listings. She called with questions. She worried she was taking up too much of my time.

More than once she said, ā€œMy mortgage is so small. Why are you helping me?ā€

My answer never changed: Because I was determined to help her get into a house.

A year later, she’s still in that home. When I checked in with her recently, she told me she still can’t believe it happened.

And honestly? Those are the moments that matter most. Not the mortgage amount. Not the paperwork.

One of the biggest misconceptions in home buying is that a firm offer automatically means everything is guaranteed. It doesn’t.

Just because an offer is accepted doesn’t mean the lender has fully reviewed and approved every detail of the file yet. That’s why financing conditions matter.

Conditions exist to protect buyers and give everyone time to properly review the financial side of the transaction before moving forward. While competitive markets can create pressure to buy firm, it’s important to fully understand the risks involved before removing protections.

A home purchase is one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll ever make. It should be approached carefully, not emotionally.

One thing I wish more clients understood: You are not bothering me when you ask questions.

Buying a home is emotional, stressful, and full of uncertainty. Of course, you’re going to need reassurance sometimes.

If I’m responding, it’s because I want to respond.

Yes, I have boundaries. But I also know that real life doesn’t stop during the mortgage process. Sometimes I’m answering messages from the park, from the baseball diamond, or while my kids are literally climbing on me šŸ˜‚

That’s part of being a ā€œMortgage Mom.ā€

I never want my clients to feel like they’re annoying for needing guidance through a major life decision.

Sometimes my meetings happen at McDonald’s while my kids have snacks.
Sometimes my office is the baseball diamond.
Sometimes I’m taking client calls from the park…
and sometimes I have to pause those calls to let my dog out šŸ˜‚

Life is busy. Life is messy. And honestly? That’s exactly why I connect so deeply with my clients.

One conversation I have with buyers all the time is this feeling that they’re somehow ā€œbehindā€ in life.

Behind on buying a house. Behind on saving. Behind compared to friends or people online. But the truth is, everyone’s timeline looks different.

Some people buy at 25. Some at 35. Some after rebuilding financially, changing careers, getting divorced, or starting over completely.

There is no perfect timeline for homeownership, and you are not failing because your journey looks different than someone else’s.

You’re right where you need to be.

One of the biggest mortgage myths I still hear is: ā€œIf your credit isn’t perfect, you can’t buy a house.ā€

That’s simply not true.

There are absolutely financing options available for buyers with bruised credit. In many cases, if you have 20% down plus closing costs, homeownership may still be possible.

And if your credit is strong? There may be options available with less than 20% down.

Every situation is different, which is why talking to a mortgage professional matters. Too many people assume they’re automatically disqualified without ever exploring their options.
