A growing team is a good problem to have. A heavier payroll process isn’t. 🙂

When your team gets bigger, payroll usually gets harder for a very practical reason: there is simply more to track, more exceptions to handle, and more room for little things to get missed.

If payroll is starting to take more effort than it used to, your process may be ready for an upgrade. Take the next step in the comments. 👇

“MISCELLANEOUS” has entered the chat. 👀

Vague transaction labels like these might save you a few seconds in the moment. But later, they can turn simple bookkeeping into detective work. Especially when it is time to review transactions, answer questions, or clean up the books.

Be honest… has this happened more times than you’d like to admit? 😅

If your bookkeeping only stays organized when you personally remember every step, it puts your bookkeeper in a tough spot, too.

They cannot work from details that are still sitting in your head. If receipts are missing or context only comes back after a follow-up question, it takes more time to piece everything together and keep your records accurate. 😵‍💫

A better system looks like this:

🟢 Documents are easy to upload
🟢 Details are added right away
🟢 Records are kept in one place
🟢 The same process gets followed week after week

It’s one of the reasons we are such big advocates of cloud-based bookkeeping. It gives you and your bookkeeper a way to capture everything you need, without all the back-and-forth later.

If staying organized feels more manual than it should, we can help you put a better system in place. Let’s talk through the link in the comments! 😊

Sometimes one question from your bookkeeper brings back a few forgotten details.

Business moves fast, and it’s easy to miss something in the moment. But those small details can affect how transactions are recorded and how your reports look.

💡 Good bookkeeping works best when your bookkeeper has the full picture. Sharing receipts, notes, or quick explanations helps keep everything accurate.

Ever open a report and feel like it gave you more questions than answers?

(We get it.) As a business, we know these reports are something you’re meant to review regularly. But when they don’t make sense right away… it’s easy to leave them for another day.

So we put together this month’s blog to walk you through it.

In it, we break down the 3 financial reports worth starting with, plus 2 more to look at next.

AI tools can be helpful when you need quick answers. But when it comes to bookkeeping decisions, context matters.

New research from Dext shows that 44% of accountants report seeing incorrect interpretation of business expenses caused by AI advice.

When expenses are recorded incorrectly, it can affect your reports, claims, and the overall accuracy of your books.

Accurate books still rely on careful human review.

If you want help keeping your books consistent, our team is here to support you.

Hiring a bookkeeper is a big decision. And there’s more to think about than “Do we need help?”

The right fit depends on:
1️⃣ The kind of support you need
2️⃣ How easy it will be for someone to step in and take over your records
3️⃣ The full cost of your options

If you’re weighing whether to hire an employee or outsource the work, our free Bookkeeper Costs Calculator can help you compare both.

You’ll find it in the comments. ⬇️

A lot of business owners start here. 😅

They think bookkeeping is just data entry.

Then reality hits.

It’s making sure transactions are categorized correctly, and perhaps allocated to the appropriate budget/cost centre.

It’s catching duplicates or missing items before they affect your reports.

When bookkeeping is done well, your reports feel reliable.

When it isn’t, everything feels harder than it needs to be.

If you want systems that keep your books consistent and easier to manage week to week, we’re here to help.
