We’re proud to have been a part of the 42nd IWK Telethon and to have helped raised a record-breaking $9m+ for children, women and families across Atlantic Canada.

Western Communities Foundation was recognized during the broadcast for our $15,000 donation to the IWK Foundation Our East Coast team members were also involved throughout the day. Darcie Macdonald and Morgan Spicer, took part in the on-air cheque presentation and supported the telethon behind the scenes on the phone bank, while Sue Wright and Jessie Johnson volunteered their time taking calls from donors.

We were also proud to have our very own Julie Power who shared her personal story during a live interview on CTV Atlantic News. Thank you, Julie for opening up and reminding all of us why this work matters so much.

The IWK touches the lives of so many families across the region, and we are honoured to support the people and programs that make that care possible.

Yesterday, we teed off for more than just a great round of golf.

Our annual Western Charity Golf Classic brought together 200+ partners, team members and sponsors to celebrate a milestone that means everything to us — the 25th Anniversary of Western Communities Foundation.

Over the past quarter century, your trust and generosity have helped fund 500+ community infrastructure projects across 180+ communities from coast to coast. That does not happen without partnerships built on something deeper than a transaction, but genuine care for people and communities.

On May 9th, our Okotoks team got their hands dirty for a great cause, taking part in a local Earth Day cleanup.

As we continue to celebrate Western Communities Foundation’s 25th year, it’s moments like these that reflect what giving back truly looks like: showing up, pitching in, and supporting the communities we call home.

Across the country, our teams, partners, families, and community members came together this week for the annual National Walk for Safe Places, showing up in support of creating safer, stronger communities for everyone.

Whether organizing local events and fundraisers for local causes, leading walks, volunteering their time, or simply showing up to support their local communities, every participant helped make this year’s event meaningful.

With the Western Communities Foundation turning 25 this year, seeing so many people come together around this cause meant a lot. Safer, stronger communities don't happen on their own. They happen because people like you show up.

To everyone who participated and helped bring these events to life from coast to coast, thank you. We are so proud of what we do together.

What a great morning in High River! More than 200 team members, community members, friends and families joined us today for our annual National Walk for Safe Places, coming together to support stronger, safer communities.

The morning kicked off with remarks from our CEO Grant Ostir, and we want to give a huge shoutout to Krystal Hoover and all of our volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the day happen.

We were also proud to walk alongside our friends from Optiom Inc and Peace Hills General Insurance Company , along with Kinsmen Club of High River , Wild Rose Community Connections and Rowan House Society.

From the walk, to the BBQ lunch sponsored by Wawanesa Insurance, to ice cream from Ranchers Creamery , the whole day was filled with great people, lots of smiles and a strong sense of community.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this year’s walk such a special part of celebrating the Foundation’s 25th anniversary.

It was a great way to celebrate the Foundation’s 25th anniversary and spend the morning with people who care about our communities.

In 2025, our Wainwright team proudly raised $4,643.20 in support of the Edgerton Public Library.

Libraries are cornerstones of strong communities—connecting people to knowledge, learning, and opportunity.

Every year the Western Communities Foundation brings thousands of people together for the National Walk for Safe Places. This year we're doing it at 11 Celebration Hubs across the country and it is completely free to join.

We’re proud to support the next step in building stronger communities through a $5,000 Community Infrastructure Grant, co-presented by our Lloydminster team and SGI.

This funding supports the Lloydminster Catholic School Division – St. Mary’s Elementary Playground Project.
St. Mary’s Elementary School’s playground is a vital gathering space for more than 300 students and countless families in the heart of Lloydminster. This project goes beyond replacing aging equipment—it’s about creating a safe, durable, inclusive, and accessible space where children of all abilities can play, learn, and grow.

Aligned with our Community Development focus, this initiative helps create welcoming spaces that foster connection, inclusion, and long-term community wellbeing.

We’re excited to see this project come to life and the lasting impact it will have as a true community hub for students, families, and neighbours alike.
