🍂 Before you close the cottage, check one more thing.
The dock is packed up. The boat is winterized. The patio furniture is tucked away.

But when was the last time you checked your cottage insurance?

Over the years, cottages can change, renovations, new structures, updated contents, more (or less) time spent there. And your coverage may need to change with them.

🏡 Before you lock the door for the season, make sure your insurance still reflects the cottage you have today.

As wildfires continue to impact communities across British Columbia, Western Communities Foundation and local Western Financial Group teams are helping provide practical support where it's needed most.

Through donations to the Mamas for Mamas - Vancouver Fire Relief Support Fund and the BC SPCA (BCSPCA) Animal Emergency Fund, we're helping provide essential supplies for families, evacuees and animals affected by the wildfires.

From back-to-school items and toiletries to feed and emergency supplies for horses and farm animals, these contributions support organizations doing immediate, hands-on work in impacted communities.

As Western Communities Foundation marks 25 years of giving back, we're proud to support organizations providing practical help when communities need it most.

Thinking of everyone affected by the wildfires and grateful to the organizations and volunteers providing support on the ground.

When an unexpected change put essential community services at risk within days, the The Red Road Healing Society needed support to keep its doors open for the people who rely on them.

Through the Western Communities Foundation Emergency Support Fund, we are proud to provide a $10,000 emergency grant to help stabilize essential operations and keep programs and services available while the organization works toward a long term solution.

For more than 25 years, The Red Road Healing Society has created a place where children, youth, adults and families can find culturally based support, connection and resources. Primarily serving First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities, the organization helps people navigate challenges, access essential services and build greater stability.

💙 This year, we’re honoured to share Logan’s story as the recipient of the Inaugural Western Communities Foundation Madisson Cobb Memorial Youth Athlete Bursary Award, created in memory of Madisson Cobb, a young athlete remembered for her kindness, compassion and love of helping others. The bursary supports students who show perseverance, courage, sportsmanship and a commitment to reaching their full potential.

Logan’s determination, positive spirit and love of swimming are a beautiful example of the kind of perseverance this bursary was created to support. Open to members of the Highwood Current Swim Club, the bursary is rooted in the community where Madisson lived, swam and made a lasting impact. At his recent swim meet, Logan showed the same focus and heart that have helped him overcome challenges and continue working toward his goals.

The bursary was created in memory of Madisson Cobb, whose kindness, compassion and belief in helping others continue to inspire something positive from unimaginable loss. Through students like Logan, Madisson’s legacy lives on, opening doors, encouraging dreams and reminding us of the lasting impact one life can have.

Congratulations, Logan. We’re proud to share your story and cheer you on.
