A call or notification on your phone asks, “Do you know who this is?” Before you answer, take a moment and don’t share any information.

“The Emergency Scam” is a common tactic used by fraudsters. It starts with someone pretending to be a grandchild or loved one in urgent trouble. They may ask for money and tell you to keep it a secret.

How to respond:
• Don’t share names or family details
• Hang up and call your loved one using a number you already know
• Confirm the story with another family member
• Never send cash, gift cards or a wire transfer to an unexpected caller
• Consider choosing a code word with your loved ones in advance

How do you verify a great investment opportunity? We all want to feel positive about opportunities to grow our savings—and guarantees of big returns or insider tips can be convincing. They’re also common tactics of scammers, so watch for:
• Promised high returns with little or no risk
• “Hot tips” or insider information
• Pressure to invest right away
• An unregistered advisor or firm

Before you invest, slow down. Check their registration at www.securities-administrators.ca/investor-tools/are-they-registered/, look for investor warnings and take your time.

You don’t have to make financial decisions alone; talk to our advisors anytime to answer your questions and help you protect your money.

As a proud sponsor of the Royal Victoria Marathon, we're excited to support our colleague Marshall, a Member Advisor at our Mayfair branch, as he trains for his very first marathon.
Follow along with 's Road to RVM series as Marshall shares what's motivating him, the challenges he's overcoming, and what he's looking forward to when he crosses the start line this fall.
We're proud to be part of his journey and can't wait to cheer him on every step of the way.

Our new banking technology and our refreshed brand has launched! With these types of digital updates, scammers may try to blend in with fake “help” calls, warning messages, or urgent-sounding emails impersonating a brand you trust.

Do these three things to protect your information:
1⃣ Contact us using our published channels or visit a branch to validate any suspicious calls or messages you receive. Call 1-888-597-1083.
2⃣ Keep your username, password, login and account credentials secret—we won’t ask for this information. And don’t provide a one-time verification code unless as part of confirming a call you've initiated to our Member Advice Centre.
3⃣ Be cautious of look-alike websites with our new (or former) brand visuals. Instead of clicking on links in web searches, type islandsavings.ca directly into your browser and bookmark our official site.

Let us know if you suspect fraud:
📧 If you see any suspicious message, report them to our Cyber Security team to take action at: [email protected].
📞 If you suspect you may have clicked on a suspicious link. Contact us using the official number above.

Grateful to be active for something bigger than us and a good reminder of the impact that we can have when we do it together!
- Susan Sidhu, Tru Cooperative Bank team member

Throughout May, 508 team members came together to move with purpose. They showed incredible dedication, collectively achieving an incredible 17,000+ hours of movement as part of Workout to Conquer Cancer. Every step, rep, and stretch was powered by experience, solidarity and shared determination to help conquer cancer.
Our partnership with the BC Cancer Foundation reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing innovative research, improving access to patient care, and driving progress toward the future of cancer treatment. Together we raised $4,670 to support cancer research in BC.
Thanks for everyone who participated and continues to support cancer research.

We’ve recently updated our digital banking experience with new apps, online banking and website—as well as refreshing our brand. During this time, we encourage you to be extra vigilant for potential scams and imposters. Watch out for calls, emails and texts with messages like:

📞 “We noticed an issue — click now!”
📧 “Do you need help logging in? We need your username and password."
💬 “We’re your new support team, enter your information so we can help you.”

Our Island Savings advisors will never contact you using messages like that—messages that sound urgent, offer unsolicited help, include warnings, or ask for login or account credentials, like passwords and usernames.

We also don’t ask you for a One-Time-Passcode unless verifying a call you’ve started to our Member Advice Centre.

If a call, email or text feels even a little off, don’t engage. Instead, contact us using our published phone number 1-888-597-1083 or visit a branch to verify the message with an advisor.
