WILDFIRE VICTIMS — YOU MAY HAVE MORTGAGE RELIEF OPTIONS ❤️
With British Columbia currently under a provincial state of emergency due to ongoing wildfire activity, my thoughts are with all the families, businesses, communities, first responders, firefighters — and wildlife — affected by these devastating fires. ❤️
If you or someone you know has been financially impacted, call your mortgage lender and ask what options may be available.
Depending on your circumstances, there may be mortgage payment-relief or deferral options available to borrowers affected by a natural disaster.
When you call, ask:
➡️ Is my mortgage insured through CMHC, Sagen or Canada Guaranty?
➡️ What payment-relief or deferral options are available?
➡️ Can principal and/or interest payments be deferred?
➡️ What happens to the deferred payments afterward?
➡️ How will this affect my credit reporting?
➡️ What do I need to provide to qualify?
Most importantly, don’t wait until you’re behind on your payments to ask for help. Be proactive and have the conversation with your lender as soon as possible.
A deferral isn’t necessarily the right solution for everyone, but you won’t know what options you have until you ask.
Please share this with someone who may need to see it. ❤️
