There is no news yet, but we know it's coming...
The Government is looking to extend the EI Sickness Benefits from 15 weeks to 26 weeks.

👀What does this mean for benefits?

There will likely be an adjustment to the Premium Reduction Program (PRP), where if an employer offers Short Term Disability (STD) they receive a reduced rate for EI.

Your Benefits Advisor should:
- Run the numbers with you regarding: STD vs no STD
- Make recommendations to adjust your Long Term Disability Waiting Period

As we await more details it is business as usual for your current claims.

⭐3rd reading and adoption of Bill C-31 in parliament yesterday October 27th.

"Part 1 of Bill C-31 would enact the Dental Benefit Act to provide financial support to eligible parents with an adjusted income of less than $90,000, for dental care services received by their children under 12 years of age, *where those children DO NOY have access to private dental insurance* and where the parent has out of pocket expenses. An eligible parent could apply for the dental benefit in each of the two benefit periods, and the amount of the dental benefit would depend on the adjusted family net income of the applicant."-

👀What does this mean for benefits?

This will mean that if your children are listed on your dental plan they will not be eligible for government subsidy.
