Sometimes it’s not about fitting the box, it’s about finding the right one! 📦

My client went through a very difficult and unexpected life event that understandably caused things to fall off track for a period of time. As a result, there were a handful of collections that didn’t reflect who she truly is or how she manages her life.

But what she did next is what matters most.

She went back to school, built a strong career, paid everything off, and put in the work to rebuild her credit the right way.

On paper, she did everything she was supposed to do.

And still…we hit roadblocks. Declines, escalations, re-reviews, over and over again. A lot of places said no.

But we didn’t stop until we found the right fit, and today, her mortgage funded and closed.

She is officially a homeowner and stepping into a fresh new chapter.

🍀 Lucky Strikes for a great cause 🎳

Yesterday I had the best time bowling to Strike Out Cancer with an incredible group from the mortgage industry. Rocking our green sequins, hats, and glasses, Team Strive, aka the Lucky Strikes showed up ready to have fun and give back.

Together, this fundraiser raised over $80,000 for cancer support. When the mortgage industry comes together, we don’t do small - we go BIG.

A big thank you to Strive for sponsoring the event and for the invite. I am so grateful to be part of an industry that truly shows up for its community.

This month I’m taking part in Strike Out Cancer, a Canada-wide mortgage industry bowling fundraiser, on team Striving for Strikes, with Strive Capital.

I lost my mom to liver cancer when I was 20. We had just three months from diagnosis with her. Three months to try to wrap our heads around losing the person who had always been there and been the family rock. She was my best friend, my safe place, and my biggest cheerleader.

🏡 She never got to see me buy my first home.
💍 She won’t be there when I walk down the aisle.
🍼 She never got to meet my son, and she would have been an absolute amazing nanny.

To help raise awareness and hopefully help other families get more time, for every mortgage application submitted to me in February, I’ll personally donate $50 to the Strike Out Cancer fundraiser. No pressure, just one small way I can give back while doing the work I love.

🤍 My first closing of the year and one I won’t forget.

I just closed a mortgage for a client that reminded me why I love this work.

She’s been with the same bank since 1977, has built significant equity in her home, never missed a payment and was the definition of loyal to this bank. When her mortgage came up for renewal after her husband passed, they wouldn’t let her renew. She had to re-apply and qualify on her own, was declined and at risk of losing her forever home that she and her family had made many memories in. As you can imagine, it was quite a stressful time for her.

Because she’s over 55, I explored a reverse mortgage with her. She now has the option to not make monthly payments at all and she even accessed extra equity to renovate her bathroom!

Reverse mortgages can help with debt; renovations; travel; early inheritance to assist younger family members with purchasing their first home, which otherwise could be unachievable; or, they can even be a source of supplemental retirement income.
