The history of Forex trading goes back more than 500 years ago.

🔸Around 1944, Bretton Woods agreement wants to create a stable international financial system anchored by gold.

🔹Under the Bretton Woods agreement, the value of an ounce of gold was set at $35, and the US dollar became the benchmark for other currencies. The system created twenty years of super-stability in the world economy.

⚡In 1971, President Nixon severed ties between the dollar and gold, and the Bretton Woods agreement was formally repealed.

🔸Modern Forex trading began in the early 1970s when the U.S.A. allowed its currency to float freely in the Forex market.

🔹In the 1970s and 1980s, Forex trading was restricted to large banks and financial institutions.

⚡But in the 1990s, as the Internet spread around the world, banks and small companies started to create online networks to produce automated quotes and trade instantaneously. Around the same time, online trading platforms started to appear, enabling individuals to trade in FX markets for the first time.

🔸Between 2000 and 2010, the Forex market grew enormously, as a new types of brokerage and electronic dealing platforms extended Forex trading capabilities to an increasing number of small participants.
