Botswana bids a final farewell to one of her greatest sons, Festus Mogae, the country's third President and one of ther architects of morden Botswana's economic stability and democratic credibility. Mogae is widley credited for entrenching fiscal prudence safegurading respect for the rule of law, and leading with humility and calm resolve, even during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis that threatened the nations future.

His administration became known for disciplined economic management, strong institutions, and policies that positioned Botswana among Afric's most stable democracies.

Leading Botswana from 1998 to 2008, Mogae earned global admiration for steering the country through economic and public challenges with principled leadership. His legacy remains deeply tied to sound governance, intergrity in public office, and belief that leadership must always serve the people with dignity and restraint.

𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀

One of the standout moments of the just ended Chobe Connect 2026 Investor Conference was the delegates’ visit to the Pandamatenga farms.

The Pandamatenga Special Economic Zone (SEZ) spans over 90,000 hectares of farmland, of which around 56,000 hectares are currently under cultivation.

Delegates had the opportunity to engage with local farmers and gain insight into both the successes and challenges of crop production in Botswana’s breadbasket.

The visit also included a tour of the modern grain storage silos, a project funded by the Government of Botswana through SEZA. The facility has significantly increased storage capacity from 30,000 to 90,000 metric tonnes, providing much-needed support for Pandamatenga farmers, who often produce bumper harvests.

The Chobe Connect 2026 Conference aimed to attract both domestic and international investors to explore opportunities in agro-processing and contribute to building a sustainable value chain in the grain farming sector.
