Award-winning social impact Leader and Entrepreneur

Lusanda Magwape is a qualified attorney, award-winning social impact leader, and impact entrepreneur with over 10 years of experience spanning legal advisory, project management, entrepreneurship, education, and digital transformation.

She is the Founder and CEO of Dream Factory Foundation, an organisation she established in 2011 to advance education, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunities for young people across Africa.

Through her work, Lusanda has led and supported community development initiatives focused particularly on entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and inclusive economic participation. Her expertise extends beyond her organisational leadership, having served as a consultant, facilitator, and coach for organisations including the African Union (AU), AfriLabs, IJHub, UpSkill Digital, and Google.

She brings a unique combination of legal expertise, strategic leadership, and entrepreneurial thinking to her work, with a strong focus on creating sustainable social and economic impact.
Lusanda holds a Master’s degree in Commercial Law from the University of Cape Town.

She is a Cordes Fellow, an AU-EU Cooperation Hub Youth Expert alumna, a Meta Community Leader Fellow, and a member of the inaugural cohort of the Obama Africa Leadership Programme.

With her multidisciplinary experience and commitment to inclusive innovation, Lusanda continues to play a pivotal role in advancing entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, digital innovation, and opportunities for young people across Africa.

Get to know the Host: Phatsimo Rachel Mokopane

Founder and Business Leader

Phatsimo Rachel Mokopane is a trailblazing entrepreneur, business strategist, and community changemaker whose career spans law, hospitality, financial services, governance, and fashion.

Phatsimo currently wears many hats however she is well known as the founder of Replenish Fashion Boutique, through which she has spent years championing financial literacy, income diversity, and purpose-driven corporate social responsibility initiatives among Botswana's youth.

Academically, Phatsimo holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Business from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology and a Certificate of Proficiency in Long Term Insurance from the Insurance Academy of Botswana, and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Universidad Católica de Murcia (UCAM) — a combination that gives her a rare, cross-sector vantage point most business leaders spend decades building.

But Phatsimo is more than her titles — she is a changemaker. Through the Finance Seminar, her own brainchild and CSR initiative, she has built a growing platform for real conversations about financial resilience and economic empowerment. The inaugural edition, "Income Diversity in This Economy," launched in October 2025 and drew approximately 70 participants — young professionals, entrepreneurs, and students — who left with practical, actionable insights on multiple income streams, investing, and money management, not just theory.

"I've always believed that being a business owner means more than just making sales — it means showing up for your community," Phatsimo says. "I'm not waiting to become a big company to make an impact. Every year, this seminar grows stronger, and so does my commitment to this mission."

This commitment has not gone unnoticed. Phatsimo was named to the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list in 2024, has served as a Panel Judge for P**a Pitch, and has lent her voice and expertise to platforms ranging from Botswana Television to the State of the Nation Address as a personal stylist and etiquette authority.

Now, she's back with the second edition of the Finance Seminar, themed "Building Sustainable Income Streams" — taking place on 10 October 2026 at Stanbic Accelerate, Fairgrounds Mall, Gaborone. Joined by speakers Lusanda Magwape, and Thato Mora, Phatsimo continues to build a movement rooted in financial resilience, self-empowerment, and community upliftment.

After taking time to reflect and intentionally think about what will truly make an impact in our times, we are excited to share the next step of our journey.

The Finance Seminar, established last year, was a great success and more importantly, it revealed a growing need for meaningful financial conversations and empowerment.

With that in mind, we have made the decision to pursue this initiative annually and with greater intention.

This page will now be dedicated to the Finance Seminar BW concept, a space where we will continue to educate, empower, and equip individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate their financial journeys with confidence.
