The trending story of a Zim couple who got arrested for illegally burying their days old baby co**se in Oodi Bush

i)the couple did not kill the child , they took her to the clinic but still could not make it.
¡¡)an autopsy or postmortem was done and a qualified doctor declared the child dead . Cause of death was dehydration and hunger.
iii) They were given their child for burial and they approached the village headman for assistance, but were turned down.
iv) the body was retrieved and re buried at a proper graveyard with a dignified funeral.
v) social services promised to take the couple for counseling.
If you look at the above points , you realize the couple tried their best to follow protocol but justice was denied to them. They acted out of desperation. I don't think , if they were locals, they could have been arrested. Action should have been taken against those who denied this couple the right to give their baby a dignified funeral.
Here are a few pieces of advice I would like to give to the many Zimbabweans living here , especially illegals.
1. Don't make yourself an island. Associate with other people, this includes other Zimbos and local batswana so that when you have challenges, you can have other people to comfort you and assist you where you need help.
2. Attend to other people's funerals so that you might know how the processes are done . This also prepares you mentally for the day you will face a similar situation.
3. Join metshelo and funeral policies when everything is still alright so that the day you have a problem, you will have some cash to help you .
4. This is a foreign land, plan everything, including pregnancies so that it doesn't come as a burden.
5.lastly learn to ask for advice from other people when you are clueless as to what to do. Many people find themselves in desperate situations like commiting su***de, commiting crime because they would have no other options, but sharing your problems with others helps lift the burden. A problem shared is a problem solved. If that couple had shared their problem with other Zimbos and locals, I am sure they could have been given good advice and got assistance to bury their child.
Lastly, in tswana they say , "sepa kgolo ke la moeng", meaning that the visitors mistakes are always considered the biggest. So let's not forget that here we are visitors and everything we do is being watched and scrutinized. So let's not behave in ways that will tarnish our image. Let the locals feel comfortable with us around them and extend their welcome . Especially ma2k , teach them manners , they are the ones that misbehave a lot and if not corrected, we might find ourselves in another Dudula here. Peace be unto you.
