MEET THE GNBS TEAM | Jermin Hookumchand
Joining the Guyana National Bureau of Standards in November 2021, Jermin Hookumchand is a Technical Officer attached to the Business Development Department. Prior to working with the Bureau, he admitted, like most persons, he encountered difficulties differentiating between the names, locations and functions of the National Bureau of Standards and the Bureau of Statistics. However, since joining the GNBS Team, this is no longer an issue for him.
Jermin’s job entails facilitating and conducting trainings and offering technical assistance services to companies. His background in Environmental Studies helps him to provide these services to companies looking to implement the ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management Systems – Requirements with guidance for use.
When asked what he enjoys the most about his job, Jermin said, “it has been a great learning experience; working with standards is crucial to my job and being a Technical Officer allows me to be continuously educated and moulded as a young professional. I am privileged to be steering companies in the right direction; helping them understand the importance of standards and building their management systems.
