Grameen Delegation Exchange Visit Program in China

From July 21 to 25, 2025, a high-level delegation comprising eight successful members and directors of Grameen Bank, five staff members, and representatives from Grameen Trust participated in an ‘Exchange Visit Program’ in China. The visit was centered around Grameen Shangdu Microcredit Co., Ltd.—a direct implementation project of Grameen Trust, currently managed by Chongho Bridge Group Ltd.
This program was jointly facilitated by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh and Chongho Bridge Group Ltd., a longstanding and valued partner of Grameen Trust in China.
A central highlight of the visit was a heartfelt experience sharing session between members of Grameen Bank and their counterparts at Grameen Shangdu. Despite linguistic and cultural differences, participants forged deep connections through shared stories of perseverance, entrepreneurship, and empowerment—underscoring the universal impact of microcredit and the spirit of social business.
Staff from both institutions also engaged in meaningful technical discussions, exchanging insights on digital operations, software applications, and innovative methodologies. These dialogues reaffirmed the pivotal role of technology in shaping the future of microfinance and social business.
The delegation also immersed themselves in China’s rich historical and cultural heritage, with visits to iconic landmarks such as the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City—adding a memorable cultural dimension to this impactful exchange.
Grameen Shangdu Microcredit Co., Ltd. was launched in 2011 as a direct implementation project of Grameen Trust in Shangdu County of Inner Mongolia in China. Grameen Trust deployed resource persons to design and establish the program, train local staff, and build institutional capacity on the ground. The project continues to operate under the management of Chongho Bridge Group Ltd. following a formal collaboration agreement with Grameen Trust.
As of June 2025, Grameen Shangdu has served over 10,000 members, disbursed more than 192.6 million RMB, and maintains an exceptional loan repayment rate of 99.6%.
