After empowering rural households through the world-renowned off-grid Solar Home System (SHS) program, Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) is taking Bangladesh’s clean energy transition to the next level!

We are excited to start enlisting potential Demand Aggregators (DAs) into the Domestic Rooftop Solar (DRS) Program - a comprehensive national initiative designed to bring grid-tied solar power directly to all across the country.

The DRS program empowers beneficiaries to:
• Generate clean electricity from your own roof
• Reduce dependence on grid electricity and rising energy costs
• Store energy through battery storage for providing backup during load-shedding
• Operate under net-metering as grid-connected systems

IDCOL was delighted to host a 12-member delegation from the Rural Energy Agency (REA), Tanzania, during their experience-sharing and benchmarking mission to Bangladesh.

Led by Amb. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jacob Gidion Kingu, Chairman of the REA Board, and Eng. Hassan Seif Saidy Al Hinai, Director General of REA, the visiting team engaged in extensive sessions on renewable energy financing, solar energy programs, public-private partnerships, and project monitoring.

Key highlights of the visit included:
- Knowledge Exchange: Full-day interactive sessions at IDCOL HQ on innovative renewable energy financing mechanisms.
- Field Exposure: Hands-on visits to IDCOL-financed solar and renewable energy project sites across Chuadanga and Kushtia districts.
- Strategic Dialogue: High-level discussions with key stakeholders, including Mr. Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Chairman of IDCOL & Secretary, Economic Relations Division (ERD).

Building on our long-standing partnership, including past support for Tanzania’s Renewable Energy Investment Facility funded by the African Development Bank, IDCOL remains committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions across borders. With this visit, IDCOL has hosted 203 international delegates from 20 delegations under its experience-sharing program on renewable energy.

Today, in the Plenary Session 06 of the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 at Novotheatre, Dhaka, IDCOL's Managing Director (Acting), Mr. S. M. Monirul Islam, delivered a compelling keynote address detailing IDCOL's transformative journey in clean energy financing.

From pioneering the world's largest off-grid Solar Home System program, reaching over 23 million people, to expanding into domestic rooftop solar, industrial energy efficiency, and credit guarantee mechanisms, IDCOL continues to bridge the gap between innovation, technology, and commercial viability.

The session was graced by Mr. Zahir Uddin Swapan MP, Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, as Chief Guest, along with industry leaders, policymakers, and cleantech innovators coming together to shape the future of Bangladesh's energy security. Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Professor Emeritus, Dept. of EEE & Executive Director, IAR, and Director, IDCOL, was the moderator of the session.

ইদানিং টিআর/কাবিটা প্রকল্প-এর নামে সোলার সিস্টেমের প্রচার ও বিক্রয়ের উদ্দশ্যে কিছু অসাধু ব্যক্তি ও গোষ্ঠী ইডকল-এর নাম ব্যবহার করছে বলে আমাদের নজরে এসেছে। এখানে উল্লেক্ষ্য যে টিআর/কাবিটা প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে বিনামূল্যে সোলার সিস্টেম বিতরণ বেশ কয়েক বছর আগেই বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছে।

ইডকল এই কার্যক্রমের সাথে জড়িত নয় এবং বর্তমানে কোনও ধরনের বিনামূল্যে সোলার সিস্টেম বিতরণ কর্মসূচির সাথেও যুক্ত নয়।
