The 49th Board Meeting of the newly formed Board of the Directors of Union Bank PLC. was held at the bank’s Head Office, Gulshan-1, Dhaka on 03 August, 2025. Honorable chairman of the Board of the Directors of the bank Mr. Md. Fariduddin Ahmed presided over the meeting. Chairman of the Board Risk Management Committee Mr. Md. Humayun Kabir, Chairman of the Audit Committee Mr. Sheikh Zahidul Islam, FCA, Independent Directors Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam Zahid, Mr. Mohammad Saiful Alam and Managing Director & CEO of the bank Mr. Mohd. Humayun Kabir were present in the meeting. Deputy Managing Directors Mr. Mohammad Iqbal and Mr. Mizanur Rahman attended the meeting on the occasion. In the meeting, discussed in details on bank deposits, investment, foreign trade, expatriate income and various ongoing issues and were expressed thanks for the trust of the people at all levels in Union Bank.

The Half Yearly Business Conferences 2025 of Union Bank PLC. held on 17 July, 2025 in the bank’s Head Office, Gulshan-1, Dhaka. Honorable Chairman of the Board of the Directors of the bank Mr. Md. Fariduddin Ahmad was present as the chief guest. Chairman of the Board Risk Management Committee Mr. Md. Humayun Kabir and Independent Director Mr. Mohammad Saiful Alam were present as special guests, Chairman of the Audit Committee Mr. Sheikh Zahidul Islam, FCA and Independent Director Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam Zahid were connected through virtual platform as special guests. At the conference, the Honorable Directors of the bank gave guidance on the Bank's deposits, investments, foreign trade, expatriate income and various ongoing issues and advised the branch managers and sub-branch in-charges to make all-out efforts to achieve the business targets 2025 by providing better services. The Managing Director & CEO of the bank Mr. Mohd. Humayun Kabir presided over the conference. The Chief guest of the conference honorable Chairman Mr. Md. Fariduddin Ahmad congratulated to all branch managers and sub-branch in-charges for their sincere efforts in the bank's half-yearly business activities and called for continuing this trend and improving the quality of customer service by being more customer-friendly, Shariah compliant and gaining the full trust of customers.

Mr. Mizanur Rahman, a veteran banker with 34 years of experience has recently joined the Shariah-based Union Bank as Deputy Managing Director. Earlier, Mr. Rahman served as Senior Executive Vice President of First Security Islami Bank PLC. He started his banking career as a Probationary Officer at Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC in 1992. Mr. Rahman served as the head of various wings and zones of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC and head of total 8 branches in Feni, Chattogram and Dhaka for about 21 years. He has also significant contributions in agent banking, microfinance, digital products & services and electronic banking of the IBBPLC.

Mr. Mizanur Rahman obtained his Honors and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Chittagong and he stood second position in the Cumilla Board in S.S.C Examination. Mr. Rahman received training on various aspects of the bank at home and abroad. To develop his professional skills he travelled to various countries of the world such as USA, UK, Italy, France, Switzerland, India, Singapore and Malaysia.

Union Bank PLC. has recently signed a Corporate Agreement with Axentec by Robi. The signing ceremony was held at the head office of Union Bank PLC. in the presence of Mr. Mohd. Humayun Kabir, Honorable Managing Director and CEO, along with Deputy Managing Directors Mr. Shafiuddin Ahmed, Mr. Jahangir Alam, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal. In addition, Mr. Abu Kawser, In-Charge of Corporate Affairs and Branding Division, attended the ceremony on behalf of Union Bank PLC. along with other officials.

On behalf of Axentec, Mr. Md. Adil Hossain Noble, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abul Kalam Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury, General Manager, and other executives attended the ceremony.

মুঃ ফরীদ উদ্দীন আহমদ , ইসলামী ব্যাংক বাংলাদেশ পিএলসি. এবং এক্সিম ব্যাংক পিএলসি. এর সাবেক ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক ও প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা, এক্সিম ব্যাংক পিএলসি. এর উপদেষ্টা এবং মেঘনা ব্যাংক পিএলসি. এর (ইসলামিক ব্যাংকিং) এর পরামর্শক, বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক কর্তৃক ইউনিয়ন ব্যাংক পিএলসির. এর পরিচালনা পর্ষদের স্বতন্ত্র পরিচালক ও চেয়ারম্যান হিসেবে নিযুক্ত হয়েছেন। ইসলামিক ব্যাংকিং ও ফিন্যান্সে তাঁর রয়েছে দীর্ঘ অভিজ্ঞতা। ১৯৮৩ সালের ৩০ মার্চ ইসলামী ব্যাংক বাংলাদেশ পিএলসি. প্রতিষ্ঠার প্রথম লগ্নেই তিনি যোগদান করেন। তিনি ১৯৭৭ সালে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক নিয়োগ কমিটির মাধ্যমে ব্যাংকিং পেশায় প্রবেশ করেন এবং সোনালী ব্যাংক পিএলসিতে যোগদান করেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশে ইসলামী ব্যাংকিং ব্যবস্থা ও পদ্ধতির উন্নয়নের সাথে যুক্ত ছিলেন। জনাব ফরিদ নাইজেরিয়ায় ইসলামী ব্যাংক বাংলাদেশ পিএলসি. কর্তৃক মনোনীত ‘জাইজ ব্যাংক’ প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্যও কাজ করেছেন।

জনাব ফরিদ বহু ইসলামী ব্যাংক এবং ইসলামী আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠান ও কর্পোরেট সংস্থার শরীয়াহ সুপারভাইজরি কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান/সদস্য হিসেবে যুক্ত রয়েছেন। তিনি দেশ-বিদেশে বিভিন্ন প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচি, সেমিনার ও সম্মেলনে অংশগ্রহণ করেন এবং ইসলামিক ব্যাংকিং ও ফাইন্যান্সের ওপর গবেষণাপত্র উপস্থাপন করেন। জনাব ফরিদ বাংলাদেশে ইসলামী ব্যাংকিংয়ে অবদানের জন্য সেন্ট্রাল শরিয়াহ বোর্ড অ্যাওয়ার্ড লাভ করেন। এছাড়া বাংলাদেশে ইসলামী ব্যাংকিং প্রতিষ্ঠা, প্রবৃদ্ধি ও উন্নয়নে অসামান্য অবদানের জন্য তাকে নবাব স্যার সলিমুল্লাহ স্বর্ণপদক প্রদান করা হয়। তিনি একজন ভ্রমণপ্রিয়াসু ব্যক্তি। তিনি যুক্তরাজ্য, মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, জার্মান, সুইজারল্যান্ড, ফ্রান্স, জাপান, চীন, মালয়েশিয়া, ইন্দোনেশিয়া, ইরান, পাকিস্তান, ভারত, সিঙ্গাপুর, হংকং, কেএসএ, সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাত, কাতার, ওমান, বাহরাইন, অস্ট্রেলিয়া এবং ম্যাকাও সফর করেছেন।

আধুনিক প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর শরীয়াহ্ ভিত্তিক ইউনিয়ন ব্যাংক পিএলসি. সমৃদ্ধির ১২ বছরে পদার্পণ উপলক্ষে ব্যাংকের প্রধান কার্যালয়, গুলশান-১, ঢাকায় এক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত থেকে ফিতা কেটে অনুষ্ঠানের শুভ উদ্বোধন করেন ব্যাংকের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক ও সিইও এ. বি. এম. মোকাম্মেল হক চৌধুরী। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন উপ-ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক শফিউদ্দিন আহমেদ এবং মোঃ জাহাঙ্গীর আলম। এ ছাড়াও উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রধান কার্যালয়ের বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ। এ উপলক্ষে কোরআন খতম ও দোয়া মাহফিলের আয়োজন করা হয় এবং ব্যাংকের উত্তরোত্তর উন্নতি ও সমৃদ্ধি কামনা করে মোনাজাত করা হয়।
