Citizens Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with the Agricultural Credit Department-2 of Bangladesh Bank at its Head Office, Dhaka, under the “Refinancing Scheme for the Agriculture and Rural Sector’’ on August 16, 2026. Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Managing Director of Citizens Bank PLC and Mr. A.K.M. Sayduzzaman, Director of the Agricultural Credit Department-2 of Bangladesh Bank signed the agreement on behalf of their organizations. Among others, Mr. Md. Abdul Latif, Deputy Managing Director and Mr. Bijoy Chandra Das, Senior Vice President and Head of SMR & Marketing Division of Citizens Bank PLC.; Ms. Rafia Sultana, Additional Director of the Agricultural Credit Department-2 of Bangladesh Bank along with other officials from both institutions attended the agreement signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, agricultural entrepreneurs associated with Citizens Bank PLC will have access to loans at concessional interest rates under Bangladesh Bank refinancing scheme. The initiative will facilitate affordable financing for agricultural entrepreneurs and rural-based enterprises, enabling them to expand their businesses, enhance production capacity and create new employment opportunities, particularly in rural areas. The facility is expected to contribute to the sustainable growth of the agricultural sector by improving access to finance and supporting rural economic activities. Through its participation in the refinancing scheme, Citizens Bank PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the country’s agricultural sector, promoting rural development and contributing to sustainable economic growth.

Citizens Bank PLC. has signed an agreement with Nec Pay Limited to facilitate the payment of inward remittances sent from European countries, further expanding the Bank’s international remittance network and strengthening services for Bangladeshi expatriates and their families.
Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Managing Director of Citizens Bank PLC., and Mr. Ikram Farazy, CIP, Chairman of Nec Group and Nec Pay Limited, formally handed over the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at a ceremony held at the Head Office of Citizens Bank PLC. Deputy Managing Directors Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman and Mr. Md. Abdul Latif; Mr. Mohammad Saiful Islam, Chief Financial Officer; Mr. Md. Mazibur Rahman, Executive Vice President; Mr. Bijoy Chandra Das, Head of SMR of Citizens Bank PLC. and Mr. Samsul Islam Khan, Head of Remittance Department, Citizens Bank PLC. Ms. Mahela Ishat Farazy, Director, Nec Group; Mr. Md. Osman Goni, Country Manager, Nec Pay Limited, along with other officials of both organizations was also present on the occasion.
Under the agreement, Citizens Bank PLC. will pay inward remittances received through Nec Pay Limited from Cyprus and across Europe through its branches and sub-branches. The partnership will strengthen the Bank’s international remittance network and provide convenient, secure and efficient remittance services to Bangladeshi expatriates and their beneficiaries.
