Dhaka, August 19, 2026: The 797th meeting of the Board of Directors of Southeast Bank PLC. was held at the Bank’s Board Room in Dhaka. The meeting was presided over by the Founder and Current Chairman of the Southeast Bank PLC. Mr. M. A. Kashem, meeting marks another important milestone in the Bank’s ongoing transformation journey.

The meeting was attended by Mrs. Rehana Rahman, Vice Chairperson, and Directors including Mrs. Jusna Ara Kashem, Mrs. Duluma Ahmed, Mr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Engr. Khandker Badrul Hassan, Ms. Nur Nahar Tarin and Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam (Nominee of Asia Insurance PLC). Also present were Independent Directors Barrister M. Moyeen Alam Firozee and Ms. Nurjahan Begum. The Board of Directors congratulated the Honorable Chairman on his re-election.

Mr. Md. Khalid Mahmood Khan, Managing Director & CEO, and Mr. Md. Touhidul Huq, FCS, Deputy Company Secretary, were also in attendance. 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗣𝗟𝗖.’𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗱

Southeast Bank PLC’s Regional Conference for the Chattogram Region was successfully held on 15 August 2026 at Conference Room of Agrabad Branch. The conference was organized to align the region’s strategic business objectives, address operational challenges, and formulate a future-oriented roadmap for sustainable business growth.

The conference was attended by Mr. Md. Khalid Mahmood Khan, Managing Director & CEO of Southeast Bank PLC., along with the Additional Managing Directors, Deputy Managing Director, Regional Head of Chattogram, senior executives, branch managers, and other officials from the Chattogram region.

The conference included a detailed review of the Bank’s business performance and operational activities up to June 2026 in line with the approved budget. Discussions covered budget achievement analysis, the status and strategies for non-performing loan recovery, loan recovery plans, branch-level targets, and opportunities for expanding the retail banking business. Emphasis was placed on expanding the Home Loan, Personal Loan, and Credit Card portfolios.

Non-Performing Loan (NPL) recovery was identified as a top priority at the conference. In this regard, branch managers were advised to implement realistic loan recovery plans, strengthen engagement with borrowers, and take appropriate and timely legal measures when necessary.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Md. Khalid Mahmood Khan, Managing Director & CEO of Southeast Bank PLC, urged all branch managers to ensure a compliance-based banking environment by properly adhering to regulatory guidelines, further enhance the quality of customer service, and identify new and promising customer segments to expand the Bank’s retail banking business.

Highlighting the Bank’s long-term strategies and future plans, he said that the Bank is placing particular emphasis on pursuing targeted business initiatives, reducing NPLs and strengthening loan recovery efforts, expanding its retail banking footprint, and further strengthening its base of stable and low-cost deposits.

He also called upon all concerned to work collectively with sincerity, innovative thinking, professionalism, and accountability to achieve the Bank’s strategic objectives and business goals. He concluded the Regional Business Conference of Southeast Bank PLC’s Chattogram region, wishing the Bank continued growth and success.

𝗠𝗿. 𝗠.𝗔. 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲-𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗣𝗟𝗖.

Mr. M.A. Kashem has been re-elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Southeast Bank PLC. He was unanimously re-elected Chairman of the Bank in its 796th Board Meeting held on 9th August 2026.

Mr. M.A. Kashem is the Founder Chairman and Sponsor Director of Southeast Bank PLC. Mr. Kashem is a Member & Former Chairman of Board of Trustees, North South University and a Founder Life Member of NSU Trust Foundation. He has served as its four times chairman and was also Chairman of NSU Foundation’s Endowment Committee several times. He is the Chairman of Rose Corner (Pvt.) Limited.

Mr. Kashem is the former President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex body of all the business communities of Bangladesh. He was the Chairman of Arbitration Tribunal of FBCCI. He is the past Chairman of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) which represented all Private Universities of the country.

Mr. Kashem was a member of the Board of Trustees of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh, one of the leading manufacturers of herbal medicines in the subcontinent, for a long time. He was the President of SAHIC Trust (Society for Assistance to Hearing Impaired Children), the only voluntary organization rendering health care assistance of the ear, nose and throat services to destitute and poor patients. He is the life member of SAHIC.

Mr. Kashem is an eminent industrialist, renowned patron of education, distinguished philanthropist and an active social worker. He was the winner of "President Export Trophy Award" for the year 1982- 83 and 1983-84 for excellent export performance.

Mr. Kashem also got "C.R. Das Gold" Medal for excellent contribution in Industrial sector in the year 1995. He was awarded the "Highest Tax Payer-2011" and also in 2016-2017 by National Board of Revenue (NBR). Recently, he has been awarded Abu Rushd Memorial Award for promoting higher Education.

Mr. Kashem was the leader of 20-member FBCCI Trade delegation to Far Eastern Countries in the year 1986. He was also the leader of 5-member Govt. delegations to the U.K., the U.S.A. and Canada sponsored by the UNDP in 1987 and leader of 12 members Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Govt. of Bangladesh delegations to EEC countries in 1985. As an industrialist he travelled almost all major cities of the world many times on his own business, led FBCCI trade delegations and also North South University.

He has established a Trust named M. Kashem Trust to foster education to the primary and midlevel students of Schools in his locality. Moreover, a general Hospital of 20 Beds in the name of "Tareque Memorial-Ibrahim General Hospital" has been established by the Trust in his Upazilla Chhagalnaiya, Feni. It is a nonprofit organization. The Trust also awarded stipends and scholarships to the meritorious students during the last couple of years.

As a philanthropist, Mr. Kashem set up Kashem Complex at Darogarhat, Chhagalnaiya which contents Madrashsa, Masjid, Eidgah, Public Graveyard and other training Centers and erected free dwelling houses for the poor and destitute people of his locality.

Mr. Kashem is a member of the Kurmitola Golf Club, Baridhara Cosmopolitan Club Limited, Gulshan Club Limited, Rotary Club of Dhaka West, National Shooting Club, Bangladesh Diabetic Association, Life member of Anjuman Mufidul Islam, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Shishu Hospital, Chittagong.

Southeast Bank PLC. marked a significant milestone in fostering a knowledge-driven banking culture with the launch of its maiden flagship research publication, Economic Outlook 2026 – Anchoring Insight, on August 2, 2026. Prepared by the Bank's MIS, Research & Project Management Unit (MISRPMU), the publication reflects Southeast Bank's commitment to strengthening research-based decision-making and strategic planning.

The report provides a comprehensive assessment of the global and Bangladeshi economies, banking and financial sectors, capital markets, foreign trade, remittance, key industries, sustainability, demographic data, and the macroeconomic outlook. Through data-driven analysis and practical insights, it supports informed decision-making across Corporate Business, SME, Retail, Treasury, Investment Banking, and Remittance while offering valuable insights into the evolving economic landscape.

The launching ceremony was attended by Mr. Md. Khalid Mahmood Khan, Managing Director & CEO, together with the Additional Managing Directors, Deputy Managing Directors, senior executives, divisional heads, and branch managers from across the country.

In his welcome address, Mr. Khairul Anam Mohiuddin, CSA, CFFP, Head of MIS, Research & Project Management Unit, highlighted the publication's vision, research framework, analytical methodology, and collaborative development process.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Abidur Rahman Chowdhury, AMD & COO, emphasized the importance of research-driven insights and a research-oriented culture. Mr. Md. Mahbub Alam, AMD & CRO, said the publication would support informed decision-making.

Southeast Bank PLC. has handed over two insurance claim cheques to the family of a deceased employees of Marma Composite Ltd. under the Group Insurance Coverage offered through the Bank’s payroll product, “Beton Card”. The insurance benefit, provided in partnership with National Life Insurance Company Ltd., reflects Southeast Bank’s continued commitment to enhancing employee welfare and ensuring financial security for corporate payroll account holders and their families.

The cheque handover ceremony was graced by Md. Khalid Mahmood Khan, Managing Director & CEO of Southeast Bank PLC. and Azad Bin Ashraf, Director of Marma Composite Ltd. Abidur Rahman Chowdhury (Additional Managing Director), Mohammed Rashedul Amin and Md. Sekander-E-Azam, Deputy Managing Directors of Southeast Bank PLC., as well as other high officials of both the organizations were also present at the ceremony.
