GUK ECCCP-Drought Project

GUK ECCCP-Drought Project Extended Community Climate Change Project-Drought (ECCCP-Drought)” Project as implemented by Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK).

The project is financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and technical assistance by the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

On 16 June 2025, Senior Director Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam and Assistant Director Md. Ziauddin Sardar visited the ongoing activities of the ECCCP-Drought Project in Sapahar, Naogaon, including canal re-excavation, rooftop MAR implementation, and tree plantation along pond embankments. They met with all project staff and other officials to provide guidance on completing current activities and planning for the upcoming year.

This initiative aims to restore the pond’s capacity, ensuring better water retention and availability for agricultural, domestic, and ecological purposes. The re-excavation process involves deepening and widening the pond, removing accumulated silt, and strengthening its embankments to prevent erosion.

Today, Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) held the tender opening for the implementation of 40 Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) systems in Sapahar Upazila, Naogaon. The ceremony was attended by Senior Director Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, PS to ED Mohammed Arman Hossain, Assistant Director Md. ZiaUddin Sardar, Project Coordinator Nura Azam Siddiqui, and representatives from the concerned contracting firm with others Officials.
