Introducing the 2026 ANSA McAL Foundation Laureates!
Yesterday evening, the ANSA McAL Foundation proudly announced the 2026 Laureates, celebrating outstanding Caribbean individuals whose work is shaping our region’s future.
The Anthony N Sabga Awards, Caribbean Excellence programme, established in 2005, has to date recognised 71 exceptional Caribbean professionals, providing over TT$34 million in funding to support excellence and innovation across the region.
Since its inception, the Foundation has recognised excellence across four key categories, honouring individuals who demonstrate innovation, leadership, and a lasting impact in their fields. Each category also receives the local currency equivalent of TT$500,000 in support for ongoing work that uplifts the Caribbean region.
Meet the 2026 Laureates:
🎨 Ms. Sheena Rose – Visual Artist, Barbados (Arts & Letters)
💡 Mr. Dean Nevers – Telecommunications Entrepreneur, Jamaica (Entrepreneurship)
🌍 Mrs. Shamelle Rice – Social Activist, Barbados (Public & Civic Contributions)
🧬 Dr. Niven Narain – Biotech Innovator, Guyana/USA (Science & Technology, Joint)
🌱 Prof. Tannecia Stephenson – Climate Scientist, Jamaica (Science & Technology, Joint)
The Laureates will be formally recognised at an awards ceremony in June.
