TWO YEARS OF ARBOR INSURANCE!

Yesterday marked two years since we officially opened the doors to Arbor Insurance - and what a two years it’s been!

We’ve learnt a lot, worked hard, made a few mistakes along the way, met some incredible people and discovered more about the community we live in than we ever had before.

Starting a family business has been a bit of a rollercoaster, but one of the best parts has been the connections we’ve made. From local businesses and sporting clubs to clients who have become friends, we are incredibly grateful for the people who have supported us.

To everyone who has trusted us with their insurance, referred a friend, shared a post, stopped for a chat or simply cheered us on - thank you. It genuinely means a lot to us.

We celebrated with dinner at Zuri last night, although we were one family member short with Jacko still off enjoying camp life at Mt Binga.

Here’s to another year of learning, growing, supporting local and doing what we love.

Two years down, plenty more to come!

We headed along to Grassroots Bullriding on Saturday night, and what a fantastic local event!

Great atmosphere, plenty of action and another reminder of just how good our local community is at putting on a show.

Of course, we can’t help but think about what goes on behind the scenes to make events like these happen!

From public liability and event cancellation to protecting equipment, volunteers and organisers, there’s plenty to consider when bringing a crowd together.

Whether it’s a bullriding competition, community fundraiser, sporting tournament or local festival, having the right insurance in place is an important part of making sure the show can go on.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in organising such a great event. We love seeing local events bringing people together.

Cyber attacks don’t just steal data - they can stop a business from operating.

For businesses using connected machinery, refrigeration systems, access controls, automated production equipment or building-management systems, a cyber incident could cause physical operations to grind to a halt.

Recent Australian and New Zealand research reported that:
- 80% of surveyed organisations experienced an attack affecting their operational technology
- 18% experienced more than three days of downtime
- third-party access was a prominent source of incidents

The research was sponsored by cybersecurity company Claroty, so these figures shouldn’t be treated as the expected loss for every business. But they do highlight an important point - Cyber risk can stop machinery and physical operations, not just expose data.

When reviewing cyber insurance, businesses should consider whether operational technology is included within the policy’s definition of a computer system and whether the business interruption waiting period and limit reflect what a shutdown would actually cost.

If your business relies on connected equipment, it may be worth taking another look at your cyber exposure.

Join us at Redlands Rays Baseball Club this Friday as we get behind Breast Cancer Awareness Month and our clients, The Patient Approach Cancer and Wellness Centre.

A huge shout-out to the Rays for bringing the community together and supporting such a worthy local cause. And to Steph and Katie, the owners of The Patient Approach, for the care, heart and hard work they’ve poured into creating a place of support for people affected by cancer. We’re proud to be in your corner.

Steph and Katie will be on the field for the first pitch of the Division 1 men take on the Redcliffe Padres at 7pm!

Grab a wristband from the canteen and some raffle tickets, with all proceeds going to The Patient Approach.

Come down, cheer on the Rays and help us show these wonderful locals some love.
