What’s the old proverbial saying 💬 “when it rains it pours!” Well….

Since May 27 2026 we’ve had 50mls of drenching rain fall here @ ‘Rock-Bank’, in the Victoria Valley of South-West VIC.

With our work schedule & strategies discussed for the day, the RB team step into our (now) rubber boots & off we go (RB Principal John’s are featured here).

We thought 💭 we would share with you all, our realities of farm life & how our work day’s start in Winter, here, in this cold, wet, high rainfall environment.

Our sheep 🐏🐑 have been bred to survive & thrive here since 1880!

The paddocks are quiet for now, as we await Lambing 🐑 2026 in 17 days ⏳

He’s a leader here on the stud for Growth, with a YWT (Yearling Weight) of 9.00, for a finer woolled ram.

Plus, also he’s a PP for Poll Status.

His 1st Drop of sons will be offered in our 2026 On-Property Ram Sale - Monday 28 September @ 1pm AEST.

The sunshine☀️👓 was OUT….

The ‘Rock-Bank’ Stud Fine Wool Poll Merino MAIDEN Ewe’s 🐑 were IN the Woolshed yards, for a-:

1️⃣ Condition Assessment

2️⃣ Drench

3️⃣ 6-in-1 B12 Vaccination

We can’t wait to see their 1st drop of progeny, when RB Lambing 2026 kicks off from June 17th. Given these ewes’ consistency of - depth of wool quality & production, structural correctness, balanced bodies (length, width, depth) & integrity of breeding - satisfying our objectives.

For late October 2025 Shorn, these stud ewes are growing a lot of wool & pushing out staple length, with lock 🔒

An inside scoop from 2026 RB Pre-Lambing Prep…

All of our 🔝 Double Stud ‘Rock-Bank’ Merino & Poll Merino EWE’s 🐑 received a plain, large, additional Ear Tag & a blue marker dot ⏺️ on the top of their poll, as part of their Pre-Lambing Prep in the yards.

This allows for-:

This is so we can monitor their birth’s - making sure their 🆕 (elite pedigree) progeny (lamb’s) arrive without issues.

Those 3rd Trimester feels…

So, this past week, the ‘Rock-Bank’ team have been busy in the yards, with our 2026 RB Pre-Lambing Prep, giving all of our EWE’s 🐑 a-:

1️⃣ Condition Assessment

2️⃣ Drench

3️⃣ 6-in-1 B12 Vaccination

They are in peak health & are due to start “lambing down”, from the 17th of June onwards.

This particular ewe featured, is a ‘Rock-Bank’ Stud Fine Wool Poll Merino (adult), carrying a Single lamb.

We’re particularly excited, keen & interested in seeing the results of the NEW Sire Group Joining’s this year - when the lamb’s arrive 🔜 - Phenotype & Genotype.

We’re all about Genetic Progress here on the stud. We’re absolutely sheep buffs.
