Welcome to Noosa Tewantin Playgroup Hub. We are a hub for a number of community playgroups open to all families with children 5 years and under, offering a safe place for children to play and a supportive environment where parents can meet. We are run by a group of volunteers with support from Noosa Council and Playgroup Queensland. Each playgroup session is an informal playtime run by two parent
volunteer coordinators. We are currently open Monday between 9am and 11 am, Tuesday and Friday between 9.30am and 11.30am and for German speaking families on Thursdays between 9-10.30 for all children aged 0-5 years. You can attend our playgroup the first two times as a visitor, free of charge. By your third visit it is compulsory to be a member of Playgroup Queensland. To join Playgroup Queensland you can visit their website www.playgroupqueensland.com.au or phone 1800 171 882. If you have a child under 12 months, membership is free for the first year! This membership provides our playgroup with insurance coverage and all families attending our playgroup must be current members to ensure the entire playgroup’s insurance is not compromised. It also gives us access to support and resources from Playgroup Queensland. You can also attend any registered Playgroup Queensland playgroup as a member and are entitled to various discount services. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, we can help you to pay your membership fees. Simply send us an email or facebook message, or speak to your daily coordinator to access this service and the options available. In addition to your membership, we ask a small donation of $4 per family for each playgroup session you attend. You can attend as many or as few sessions as you like. Please sign in on arrival in the register in the kitchen, provide your membership number, and put your $4 donation into the money tin. Aside from our annual fundraiser, this $4 you pay each time is our only source of income. We use this money to upgrade and maintain our facilities and toys, provide tea and coffee for parents, buy kitchen supplies and craft items, and cover any overhead running costs such as electricity and rent. For the parents and carers we offer a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment for you to relax, interact and play with your child. We provide tea and coffee, and a chance to socialise with other parents. We ask you to supervise your child and encourage them to be kind to other children, to be gentle and aware of the babies, to learn to take turns and to share. At the end of the session we ask that everyone pitch in to pack away, tidy up and clean, ready for the next day’s group. A little bit about us…. Noosa Tewantin Playgroup has been servicing our local community from our residence on Moorindil St since 1981. That’s over 35 years! We are an iconic local institution and take pride in our longevity and the fact we are the only community run playgroup in the Noosa area. The running of playgroup is passed down from parents to parents, year after year. Playgroup is not for profit, and exists entirely because parents like you generously volunteer their time and effort to make it what it is. The more volunteers we have, the better our playgroup can become. If you have any time to spare or ideas of your own or special skills to make our playgroup even better, your involvement is welcome. We are always looking for volunteers to offer to be daily coordinators, this can be as little as one 2 hour session a month! We are also always looking for people help out with our fundraising and working bees. Many people feel daunted by joining a committee, but we are just a group of parents with little kids and very little spare time, just like you. Our family commitments always come first and we will never ask you to give more than you are prepared to. Even the most minimal contribution can be of great benefit to the playgroup and our community in general. It also feels good to give something back.
