Your ideal life starts with your values, not your bank balance
Bonnie Ware wrote in her 2011 book “The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying” that the two most common regrets of the dying are:
1. Not Living Life True to Myself and
2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
In order to avoid these two regrets, first you need to know:
- What a life true to yourself actually means
- When you can afford to live it
Turns out, financial planners can help with both these issues.
The first thing a good financial planner will work with you on, is helping you design your ideal life.
A life true to yourself.
They will typically ask questions like:
1. What are your values
2. What are your priorities for yourself, your partner, your family etc.
3. How do you want to spend your time (much more important that how do you want to spend your money)
4. When do you want to do these things
They then look at your finances today and, in the future, and figure out how quickly your finances will support your ideal life.
By far the majority of clients are able to live their ideal life much quicker than they had expected.
This is because documenting what your ideal life is, planning to achieve it and using a financial professional (who is experienced in using financial resources to achieve personal goals), is much more than most people do and is much more likely to succeed.
So, if you want to live a life “true to yourself” quicker, speak to a quality financial adviser sooner rather than later.
