RBA Holds Rates Steady – What It Means for You

Recent inflation data has painted a mixed picture. While headline inflation eased from 4.6% to 4.2%, the RBA's preferred measure of inflation edged slightly higher from 3.3% to 3.4%, indicating that underlying price pressures remain persistent.

RBA Raises Cash Rate to 4.10%

The Reserve Bank of Australia has lifted the cash rate to 4.10% amid ongoing inflation pressures. Annual trimmed mean inflation – the Bank’s preferred measure – rose to 3.4% in the year to January 2026, indicating underlying price pressures remain persistent.
RBA Governor Michele Bullock highlighted that strong private demand, a tight labour market, and rising short-term inflation expectations are continuing to drive inflation above the target range.

With inflation still exceeding the 2–3% target band, the Board determined that further policy tightening was necessary to bring inflation under control within a reasonable timeframe.
