Skaffold lets you see each stock listed on the ASX colour-coded on a grid rather than a chart. The colour tells you straight away whether the stock is great, average or poor. Plus, there is a rating system, similar to Standard & Poor’s country ratings, for every single stock. Ratings start at A (highest quality) and go down to C (lowest quality) with a per- formance score ranging from 1 (best) to

5 (poorest). Combined with the colours, Skaffold updates daily for every company announcement, making stock- picking a breeze. A1 and green means great quality and worth a closer look, while C5 and bright red is dangerous. Skaffold earns simplicity with hard work: 120 pieces of data for each financial year for every company are processed through 730 calculations every night. The result is a number of world-first and patented features unique to Skaffold:

● The rating system (A1 for good to C5 for poor, colour-coded to traffic light analogy).
● The Skaffold Line (a three- year valuation forecast based on 10 years of historical and consensus analyst data).
● The Cash Flow screen.
● The Skaffold Verdict.
● The Capital History evaluation screen. All these features are supported by a stock search, a comprehensive filter and sorting functionality, company information and a range of pre-sorted screens. Investors can compare stocks side by side and create unlimited watchlists. For more interested, less time-poor investors, all the raw data is available in table format. The data, from top-tier financial and news providers, is updated daily.

Three stocks that could gain from the strong Aussie dollar

With the AUD having breached 80 US cents over the last 2 weeks, the highest it’s been since early 2015, speculation is rising as to whether it will now rally back towards the 90 US cent level. This unexpected rise is giving the RBA headaches, as it prefers a weaker dollar to help cushion the economy from the end of the mining boom and to help stoke lackluster inflation readings.

The dollar’s rise from its 68c nadir reached in early 2016, has been attributed to many factors that were largely unforeseen just a year ago. These included: the decreased expectation for President Trump’s fiscal stimulus and higher US inflation; the resiliency of iron ore prices -thanks to stronger than expected Chinese economic conditions; and the recent hawkish comments from the RBA and its seeming aversion to further cuts in the cash rate. These factors have contributed to a near 17% rise in the AUD versus the USD since Jan 2016 and an 18% rise of the AUD compared with the Japanese Yen since June 2016.

While we’re not going to offer an opinion on the future movement of exchange rates, investors would be correct to consider the impact currency movements can have on their equities portfolios. A stronger AUD will benefit companies with overseas expenses but generate revenue domestically, with importer stocks being classic examples of this dynamic. On the other side of the coin, a falling AUD will benefit stocks that source their revenue from overseas but have most of their expenses within Australia, i.e. exporters.

Visit http://www.skaffold.com/blog/stocks-to-benefit-from-strong-aud to read who the 3 stocks are.

With the appreciation of the Aussie dollar making headlines while wrongfooting the RBA, we highlight a few stocks that may benefit from a stronger exchange rate.

Its reporting season! And you know what that means... new Skaffold Scores. It’s the time of year when you’re thankful to have Skaffold keeping tabs on things for you.
Skaffold’s patent-pending A1 – C5 stock ratings interpret a company’s latest financial results. They update when a company releases their full year or interim results. In Australia, that typically occurs in August (full year) and February (interim) where more than 60% of stocks listed on the ASX report their results. Access Skaffold’s reporting season calendar which lists some popular ASX companies' reporting dates so you can keep track of results as they’re released to the stock exchange.
For Skaffold members, the best way to keep up with all the reporting season changes is to set up a reporting season alert and to import your portfolio into Skaffold. This alert will email you when key changes occur and this is a good starting point.
Here’s what you need to do to make sure Skaffold is working for you. http://ow.ly/yz1I30dClAY

Is BHP is a buying opportunity in an otherwise fully priced market? For BHP, as with any resources player, the question ultimately comes down to the price and future expectations of the key commodities in question. Since the S32 demerger, BHP has become even more closely aligned with the fortunes of its leading commodity: iron ore. For BHP to see significant appreciation from here, we would need to see its key commodities, especially iron ore and oil, strengthen considerably. Citibank analysts are predicting the opposite. A leading ratings agency downgraded a number of Australian financial institutions last week but investors should not be too concerned. Despite the downgrades, the credit ratings of Australian banks are stronger than those of their global peers.
While there is cyclicality in bank earnings, the outlook for our banks remains sound despite the headwinds of a weakening residential housing sector and a “big bank tax”. Banks are money-making machines. Read more at http://ow.ly/7w7430cpF3y

What happened in March: The US initiated the process to deploy an advanced missile defense system, known as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), in South Korea. The action followed North Korea’s test launch of four ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan, which was perceived as a threat to US naval bases in Japan. In view of the rising security threat following the series of missile and nuclear tests by North Korea, the US and South Korea mutually agreed to fast-track the deployment of the THAAD system. THAAD is an advanced defense missile, designed to destroy short- and medium-range ballistic missiles at a high altitude. Read the full article at http://ow.ly/wILi30aONmz
