A new report has revealed the difficulties faced by families supporting veterans through the DVA system.

Nearly half of family members and close associates surveyed in the Veteran Wellness Index said they had no understanding of the proposed reforms to support services.

With reforms being implemented on 1 July 2026, data shows the role of advocates is essential to make the process easier.

Our commitment is to provide continued stress-free support for veterans and their families, even through the evolving system.

The 2024 Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Su***de pointed us in the right direction.

But recent findings show there is still significant work to do.

Younger Aussie veterans added their voice to a concerning finding, with only 4 in 10 feeling that the quality and access to support services have improved since the Royal Commission.

After delivering end-to-end support to over 9,000 veterans, we believe more must be done by everyone involved in their journey to bring about a system that gives them confidence.

It's experiences like these that tell us more work needs to be done within the DVA system.

The latest data tell us that experienced advocates made the DVA process easier for 3 in 4 veterans. Let's build a system where no veteran is left in limbo.

As Australians honoured the sacrifice and service of Defence personnel this Anzac Day, new data also highlights that many veterans and their families continue to struggle with service-related compensation systems.

While it's encouraging to see some reforms heading in the right direction, the latest Veteran Wellness Index report shows us many veterans are still struggling to access the support they need.

From policy makers to service providers to advocates, there is still work to do. This report reflects a commitment to constructive, evidence-based discussion about how the system can continue to improve.
