A serious post for a change… because I keep getting asked the same question: what is LEVRD?
Around July last year I was sitting on the couch having a few reds, scrolling Instagram, watching Tim Naki (the blackjack guy), and I had one of those moments where an idea hits you and it won’t let go.
I remember thinking:
“Why couldn’t someone do something similar… but for trading mining stocks?”
Not just punting trades — but running a real CFD account like a personal long/short hedge fund…
With the wins, the losses, the emotion, the research, the lessons… all of it.
Because as a viewer, that’s what I’d want to watch.
An Aussie bloke putting real skin in the game, being transparent, and explaining the “why” behind every decision. Plenty of people could do trading content…but not many can blend it with 14 years in underground mining — as a Mining Engineer and Jumbo Operator — and have a high level understanding of what matters operationally.
Not just “the chart looks good”… but, will this company actually mine what they say they’re going to mine?
To back me up, I knew I needed Visible Alpha for the consensus numbers. Even did it the right way, I purchased a subscription instead of using someone else’s login (I’ve been raised well by my mother). I sound-checked the idea with a bunch of mining industry people and the response was basically:
“That would be awesome.”
So I built it.
I put in the work, secured an AFSL to operate under, built the platform, and like most things I’ve done… it’s not exactly common 🤣
(Securing insurance was a nightmare — shoutout CRE Insurance Broking)
To be honest, my biggest fear at the start was simple:
“Imagine if I lose it all in the first couple of months… I’ll look like a complete dickhead.”
But after 1.5 months, 50 videos, I’m glad to say I’m still in the game — and currently up ~35% (got hammered Thursday unfortunately… part of the game).
The best part so far?
LEVRD makes me accountable.
It stops me from getting trigger-happy on the buy/sell button without doing the proper work.
I’ve got plenty right. I’ve got plenty wrong. Some may prove right later. But so far I’ve learned a lot — and I’ve enjoyed building something genuinely different.
