I continually shake my head at this Government making changes to the financial system after looking the camera in the eye and telling the Australian Public… “No, we aren’t going to do that.”

You can now add to the list, SMSF borrowing to buy residential properties.

I’m such an advocate for having a residential property in your Super fund (if it aligns with your risk/statement of advice).

And now - Sadly, that door is closing.

However, there is still a window of about 45 days to be grandfathered in. But that window requires preparation- not panic.

**RBA leaves cash rate on hold at 4.35%. **

I’ve been asked by a number of people, “am I worried (as a business) about the current market conditions and the government’s changes to the tax system.”

“Are you underinsured?”

With the impending arrival of Tropical Cyclone Narelle this weekend - it’s a question you need to find out.

Here’s a hint… if you haven’t taken out new insurance the last 3 years… you are underinsured.

The cost of building a house has doubled in the last 5 years. Even if you have purchased a home in the last 2 years - chances are you are underinsured. And that means as the most powerful storm barrels it’s way down the coast… you need to call up your insurance company today. Find out how much you are covered for and increase your coverage- even if it’s temporarily. (some insurance companies may have a waiting period… so do it asap.)
