Sounds crazy but it's true. Making your repayments either weekly or fortnightly actually gives you a few extra repayments a year towards your home loan, reducing the balance sooner.

Recently I had an appointment with a first home buyer who was trying to work at putting a deposit together, afford living costs and reduce several loans and credit cards. Feeling like this would take a lifetime to achieve we sat down and reviewed everything. All bills were being paid on time but trying to focus over reducing all of them together and feeling like nothing was moving was painful.

We restructured where money was going and was able to within the appointment close off a personal loan and one credit card with savings. The feeling of how much weight had lifted was incredible.
